The Lily-Pad Theory | The National Debt Lie

in #blog7 years ago

I call National Debt the Lily-pad Doubling Complex.

There's the IQ test given in Universities. This IQ test is designed to gain a quick understanding of who may struggle and who may not. A common IQ test question was (one that is no longer used) the Lilly-pad question. You have a Lily-pad which resides on a pond. The Lily-pad, each day for 48 days will double in size. On which day will the Lily-pad cover half of the pond? The answer of course is day 47, as on the 48th day the Lily-pad will have covered the entire pond.

The average person will not be able to answer that question very quickly and will eventually give up or may not be able to answer that question at all. This is why we underestimate growth. We underestimated technological growth because as soon as we had found the principles for electronic communication and designing user interfaces we immediately started improving upon those things and within the next 20-30 or so years we have what we have today.

This same thing happens with numerical and indeed national debt growth. For example, in the US, national debt from 2002 to 2009 almost doubled in size. From 2009 to 2016 the US National debt doubled in size again. Every 7-years the US national debt doubles in size. There's a pattern with National Debt in the UK too. Every 5-years the debt doubles. From 2005 to 2010 the national debt had doubled. From 2010 to 2015 the UK national debt had more than doubled. This is guaranteed when you are dealing with interest rates.

This is the Lily-pad scheme and for any government to so much as claim that they are able to get out of this, I'm sorry to say but they are lying to you. The people who profit are the people who own the banks, you are being scammed and lied to right in front of your eyes. Don't think they aren't communicating either, because if a government is in debt, a bank owner is profiting and if a bank owner owns multiple banks, well, they can essentially rule the entire chess board.

thank you for the article!

may I suggest to you, putting the answer to the lilly-pad question a bit further away. i just kept reading and was handed the answer, before i could even think about it. i know, this article focuses on something else, but it'll still be fun to check out, if one gets it right.

Haha, yeah it was more so to prove a point and not for you to actually figure out the answer to the question but it's fair criticism. Thanks for reading :)
