DON PEDRO ALVARADO AND HIS PALACE.
Legend has it, my grandfather says it! that, in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. For the years of 1850-1900 approximately; Don Pedro Alvarado lived, a very wealthy and kind man, owner of the palmilla mine, the largest in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico.
He built El Palacio Alvarado as a monument of love to his wife, Mrs. Virginia Griensen, who was a seamstress, sister of Elisa Griensen.
Don Pedro fell deeply in love with Virginia Griensen, whom he asked for in marriage and with whom he formed a large family, but his first children died a few months after his birth, he made a great palace with all the luxuries that could exist, but his Sick wife who made a medical laboratory in the palace to be treated, but unfortunately after 10 years of marriage he died and Don Pedro never returned to make his life with anyone else, consecrated to the eternal love he had for Virginia Griensen, which According to the legend you can see his spirit on the balconies of the palace or in the fountain that is at the center of the courtyard brushing his long hair.
Don Pedro, helped the community trying not to have so many shortages giving them work and helping those in need, among them General Francisco Villa, which one day arrived when Don Pedro paid his employees and helped the poor, forming the one of the ranks since he was seriously injured and got between the people to persuade the enemy, so Don Pedro welcomes him and helps him; from that moment they began a true friendship until the death of General Francisco Villa, who was veiled in the Hotel Hidalgo which Don Pedro Alvarado had given him for the great friendship they had.
Don Pedro Alvarado helped to build the Cathedral of the Virgin of Guadalupe because he was very devoted; He says that his own employees at the La Palmilla mine had a small altar to the Virgin of Guadalupe and that's when they started building the Cathedral years later.
