Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 1/1/18> As much as I hate to admit it, my Dad was right… and I think I am too.

in #blog7 years ago

Back in the 1960’s when I was a kid my father use to tell me that we needed to “buy American made” he continued to tell me that up until he passed away in 1978. He was a railroad engineer and ran freight trains; he was seeing firsthand how many foreign made products were coming into the USA. The trains were loaded with it, boxcar after boxcar of Chinese and Japanese products. He said the Chinese will own us one day if the people didn’t wake the F up, and he was right.
The USA is trillions of dollars in debt and the Chinese are the holders in due course of the majority of the notes.

Well, it is New Years Day 2018, is this the year that the Chinese call in our IOU’s and demand payment? I don’t know the answer to that question and neither do you, but it is a bad position to be in if you happen to live in the USA like I do. So, why do I bring this up on what should be a festive holiday, full of optimism for a great 2018? The answer is simple, kicking the can down the road doesn’t solve problems, sooner or later you have to pick it up and deal with it.

The reason we are in such a financial mess in the USA is the people we elect to represent us in Washington, DC. There will be elections in November 2018 and it is time to fire every incumbent who is running for re-election. So please start the New Year off right by setting your sights on November now, find a candidate who is running and not currently holding office, and help them get elected. Even if it is just telling your neighbors about this new candidate, put up signs in your yard, donate if you can to their campaign. Be active is the most important thing you can do besides casting a vote in November.

We complain we don’t have term limits, well folks we do have them. We just don’t enforce them. The term limit is, “replace them when they are ineffective”, and we can do that at the voting booth. I will not cast a vote in November for an incumbent elected official and I urge you to take the same position. We need to clean the house and senate of these crooked ass elected officials who are leading this country down the path of financial ruin and worldwide embarrassment. We are on a path to become a third world country and we don’t even realize it, and if the Chinese call in our notes we will be there in no time at all.

Please don’t try to convince me or yourself that your sitting congressman or senator isn’t the problem, they are, and mine as well. If that means casting a vote for a candidate from a party that I don’t particularly care for, so be it. Enough is enough in my book, and 2018 is the year that it starts for me.

Why do we have parties? Parties are for celebrations, right? I have come to the realization that politics and the use of the word “party” has to with what they do once elected, go to Washington and party their butts off on our dime. In my entire adult life I haven’t seen anything coming out of Washington that is helping this country be the best it can be. You have plenty of time between now and November to get your mindset right on this subject, I just wanted to plant the seeds early so we can harvest a good crop in the fall. There is no guarantee that those we will elect will be any better than what is there now, I understand that, but what we have isn’t working in our best interest, only their own.

Enjoy New Years Day, but on Jan.2, 2018 start doing your part to correct the problems we have in the USA.
For my friends in the other parts of the world, take a look at the situation in your country. The advice I have given here might well be good for your country as well.

Until next time,

The Democrats couldn't scuttle Roy Moore in Alabama. Mitch McConnell knifed him in the back. As a woman, I of course despise sex molesters. But in Japan, an old guy who likes young girls is not in that category. People make fun of them, but they are not considered criminals. Anyway, the charges against him showed signs of being engineered. But at the end of the day, I'm only half interested. My mother is American.

In case you didn't catch it, Roy Moore didn't get elected, I don't know if it was McConnell that had anything to do with the people of Alabama casting their vote or not for him. The thing I am trying to get across is incumbents only care about getting re-elected and the proof is in the work that they produce, which is not helping this country. Thanks for stopping in, I look forward to seeing you around here on steemit. Where are you living at now? Were you born in the US?

I live in Tokyo. I was born in Japan. I have lived in the U.S. before; in California and New York. I was watching some talking head on Fox the other day who said Mitch McConnell threw Roy Moore under the bus. If he hadn't dissed him, he would have won. I don't know, but sounds about right to me. Politicians are pretty slippery people.

Just like a politician to take credit for something they can't prove, McConnell had said it as well, they didn't want Moore up there. They are definitely slippery as you described them. Enjoyed the visit, I hear Tokyo is a beautiful city. Thanks for stopping by today.

the politi..Cull
time to trim the tree before the roots die

That is a good way to put it.

My philosophy has always buy the best made item for the best price regardless of where it's from.

Completely agree about politicians. Every vote I make is for politicians who believe in smaller less invasive government who believe in more personal freedom, but I seem to be in the minority.

Now a days on purchasing items your philosophy is about all you can do, there are several items that even if you wanted to buy "American" you couldn't do it because there are no US manufacturing plants making the items, televisions being one of those, clothes are another that you really have to search for as well. Back in the time and day when he was telling me this, pretty much everything at least had an American made equivalent to decide against when purchasing.
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts on the subject.

This is what I term the problem identification and the way forward. I must say you're very correct starting with this your quote

Why do we have parties? Parties are for celebrations, right? I have come to the realization that politics and the use of the word “party” has to with what they do once elected, go to Washington and party their butts off on our dime.

I've always been wondering why they are so called parties, and thanks to you, I've figured it out now. I'll be using this information I've gotten to send the message across to my own nation. It indeed will be great, if we can start planning ahead for the future and I guess the future is now.

Not only the USA, Nigeria and every other nation suffering from thisdo need to adhere to your advice, and being one I'll start right away. Thank you very much for this great advice you've delivered and I hope our politicians will also start running and not only hold office positions.

Having never been to your country I can't speak to it, I trust though that this problem is probably more than just in the USA. When you have congress and women who have been in office for twenty plus years or more it smells to high heaven with the smell of greed and corruption. Once elected, the only thing that a politician cares about is making sure they get re-elected. The republicans had seven years they spent saying repeal and replace Obama Care and held more votes on it then I can recall at the moment. Then when they get control over the house, the senate, and have republican president to sign a bill to repeal and replace it they can't agree on how to do it. They need to go and it needs to happen this year, 2018.
We can't get rid of all of them at once as their terms expire at different times, but if not one sitting one of them who is up for re-election gets voted back in that will show them we have had enough and maybe some things will start getting done that could help get this country back on track.

Yes sir. We can't get rid of them all at once, but gradually we'll be able to achieve this. Change begins with me is the new revolution.

Sigh. Another irresponsible deficit increase. You would have thought that the conservatives would be putting a clamp on that. I will be on the lookout for fiscally responsible candidates.

The politicians are all the same, maybe different labels, but they all are made from the same ingredients.

that problem as you mentioned too exist from way back and it's global. Basically most of the people you may encounter from other cities may say the same. the same will say about politicians too. Sadly that's the reality...

I don't think usa is gonna become a third world country but instead i think our world is gonna become third world. I hope everything change but i don't think so. Also you reminded me of one of my favorite songs that fits the occasion

That song does fit and I am a fan of Joe Cocker as well, you may be right as far as a third world instead of a third world country. The powers keep bringing up NWO every time you turn around, it probably will be just a matter of time.
