13 Reason Why - Character Analysis - Intro

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

Dear Steemit,

I just finished watching Thirteen Reasons Why for the second time. The first time, I wrote a Steemit post about it and it was about how the show and book affected me at different stages in me life. Watching it this time, I felt there was more to be said. But instead of being about me this time, I'm going to talk about the characters. They deserve it.

Besides Bryce, all the characters are a mix of good and bad. You can't hate them, but you can't fully like them either. Even Clay made mistakes, and so did Hannah, even though she's the 'victim.'

The reoccurring theme here is going to be, 'hurt people hurt people.'

Almost all the people who Hannah blamed for her death were hurting in some way or another. It's pretty classic in fiction and in real life. The bully ends up having abusive parents. His dad hits him, so he hits others. Then they aren't seen as a bully any longer. Yes, they are a bully still, but also a victim. You can hate their actions but you can't help but pity them. And there was a lot of this in the show.

I'm going to do a post for each character, because doing it all at once would be too long.

I have much to say, so stick around!
