SUSHISAMBA IN LONDON

in #blog8 years ago

The other day we made our way to a meal at SushiSamba. I had meant to go many-a-times ago yet somehow it never seemed to work out. Okaaay, I’ll be honest, last time I took a nap and woke up too late to make the reservation.

So, finally, after what felt like forever, I made it and was greeted by this view.

The others were running late so we scoped out the drinks menu and started with some batida de mango cocktails. While ordering the waiter warned me: “These cocktails are made with cream and mango, they may be a bit heavy are you okay with that?”All I said was “Baby, heavy is my middle name!”, okay so not really but I quickly assured him that I still wanted it.

Look at this and just try and tell me you don’t want to grab that straw, bring it to your lips and take a massive sip. It just looks so… Brazilian.

When Sabina arrived we ordered a few starters to tide us over until everyone has arrived. I ordered the tempura green beans with black truffle aioli and without sounding like I’m showing off my ordering skills (which I totally could), it was definitely my favourite starter. That black truffle aioli was just so, so, so good. Just looking at the picture is making my mouth water, a definite must order if you go!

Sabina ordered the padron peppers and had no idea what exactly she was expecting. They were good but nothing all too special if I can be completely honest.

Brandon (and his hand modelling skills) ordered the wagyu kyoza, that apparently were not that impressive.

Finally, the final part of our party arrived and we ordered another round of cocktails, or it might have just been me and Brandon. I’m sorry, it’s all a boozy haze, just kidding.

Our orders of different sushi’s arrived: somewhere in there is the tiger roll which was apparently amazing. Another must order.

Then we had a little something something for the carnivores: the steak (which apparently wasn’t for us but we had marked our little chopsticks all over it before they could take it back). Muahaha! So sneaky.

Eventually the sun began setting, illuminating the entire restaurant in a beautiful glow and warmth. We kept eating until we couldn’t eat any more and then ate a little bit more. The restaurant was a mixed buzz of couples on dates, business meetings, and families sharing a nice meal.

I ordered two robatas because I have very little self control and I couldn’t decide between asparagus and aubergine. In the end I think I was happier with the aubergine.

With that I ordered some organic quinoa, trying to balance the cocktails with some healthy food.

 Tata!

Time to go work off what I munched on earlier.

Love,

Juliana
