The Excuser Self Is Your #1 Enemy
It's the first 'Nah' kind of thought that comes to your mind when you think about doing something useful.
"Maybe I'll do it tomorrow"
"I just wanna be lazy for a while"
and such.
I call that thought's owner as Excuser Self.
By accepting its thoughts, you're falling into the trap of the enemy.
The reason your life is stale and stagnant
...is because all this while you let the Excuser Self rule.
Don't let it rule.
Take control. Whenever you hear Excuser Self's thoughts, say to it, "Sure Excuser Self, you're absolutely right. I'll do juuuuust that." and then do the complete opposite.
That sucker will never see it coming.
The Chain
So Jerry Seinfeld used to use this method to successfully write one joke per day: marking 'X' on the dates of a calendar whenever he'd write a joke. When doing that for a few weeks, it creates a chain. When a chain is created, you don't want to break that chain. Because it looks good. Better than the chains that rappers wear.
Someone went ahead and created an app for that. BOOM
And now I'm going to use that.
Japanese
I've decided to go all in on Japanese and finish the last 5 chapters left on the Human Japanese app. There's a total of 45 chapters on it and this is the basic level yet. There's an 'intermediate' version of that app. Another 690 rupees.
sob sob
But totally worth it.
Naruto started it all...
sigh
4 months have passed since.
4 months back
I decided to rewatch Naruto from the beginning. While already in a few episodes, I thought, "Hey. Why not learn Japanese?"
Those days (just 4 months back) watching Naruto was the only thing I was doing the whole day. It was because I didn't know what else to do; didn't have a proper direction, wasn't meditating, didn't think about even a millimeter about self-improvement.
But here we are.
So much on the plate, but with all these things done, my day ends up being productive.
This Excuser Self is the latest concept I came up with that will improve my life 10 folds.
A few thoughts on those BS motivational videos
After I started doing the Headspace mediation regularly, I've come to a stage in that where it's teaching me a lot of life lessons through meditation. So now, I'm actually able to live these lessons that I'm learning.
Unlike what happens when you binge-watch the BS motivational videos.
I find them a distraction now. They quite tempting and make me wanna click/press on them. But ultimately, every damn time, they end up being useless.
Ever remember the shit you hear in those vids after a day has passed? Even if you remember the words, do you still feel the same inspirational way when you felt the first time around that you watched that video?
Nope.
So what does that mean?
BS motivational videos are a waste of time and I'm not gonna watch them.
One Piece
So far out of all the anime, One Piece has been the funniest to me. So much work must be going into that comedic timing and planning out the overall scene. It's not "too much" like Naruto and not too subtle either.
Its comedy is just perfect. Makes me laugh at least once an episode.
Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse
Or something like that.
lemme google
Oh I was right.
Looking forward to that movie.
