Dear America, casting 20 and 30 year olds as teens is creepy and weird.
I see a new season of 13 Reasons Why has dropped and we get to see more teen roles cast with 20 and 30 year olds making for a very fake and bizarre mixture of people interacting in the halls of a highschool all apparently "fellow kids".
Does anyone else think this is both creepy and unhealthy? My guess is the producers feel uncomfortable casting actual teens because of the subject matter (suicide, sexual assault, bullying, etc.) but it's got to come at the cost of the series actually achieving anything good. I can't help but think that if kids were to see actual teens dealing with these serious subjects it would be more authentic and would in turn result in a more compelling series that might actually help kids really dealing with these issues. Instead they see unbelievable portrayals of themselves by adults with an undercurrent of this subject is too serious for real kids to cope with, so we cast an adult instead.
Maybe America still has a puritanism problem?
at time i tried to post some thing like this but steemit does not encourage me and no one seems to upvote my post @scottweston your post is good
