Search: Participation in search: Indian Competitive Commission imposes penalty of Rs 136 crores on Google, delay of 2 months
Indian Competition Commission (CCI) has imposed a fine of Rs. 136 crores on the search engine Google for unfair trade practices in the Indian market. Google has been ordered to deposit this amount within 60 days.
The Commission has taken this action on the complaint lodged in the year 2012. The regulator said that this penalty on Google has been done in the case of anti-competitive behavior. This is a rare case of imposing penalty on Google at the global level. It is alleged that Google exploited the tendency of manipulating the online search engine market and manipulated the search.
According to the CCI order, the penalty on the company is equivalent to five percent of the income from Indian operations in the three financial years 2013, 2014 and 2015, which is Rs 135.86 crore. The Commission said that it was decided to impose a fine on Google's response to the complaint, seriously after considering it. This verdict came in 2012 on the complaint of Matrimini.com and the Consumer Unity and Trust Society (Cuts).
At the same time, a Google spokesperson said, the company has always been focusing on the essential things for its users. The spokesperson said, "We are reviewing the small concerns marked by the Indian Competitiveness Commission.
CCI told the 4-2 verdict to penalize Google 2 members were against this decision, while four people were in favor of this charge.
There are such cases on Google outside of India. Some time ago, the European Union had accused Google of misusing his influence. However Google has been denying it.
