Sanatan Dharma is a religion (or, life-style), whose followers are mostly in majority in India, Nepal and Mauritius. It is called the world's oldest religion. It is also called 'Vedic Sanatan Varnashram Dharma', which means that its origin is already from human origin. Scholars consider Hindu religion as a composite of different cultures and traditions of India, which have no founder.

This religion boasts many different worship methods, opinions, cultures and philosophies inside it. Based on the number of followers, it is the world's third largest religion. Most of the devotees in India are based on number and are in Nepal on the basis of percentage. Although many gods and goddesses are worshiped in it, in reality it is monotheistic religion.

It is also called Sanatan Dharma or Vedic religion. In Indonesia, the formal name of this religion is "Hindu Agum". Hindu is not only a religion or community, but a method of living a life.

Holy texts of Sanatan Dharma have been divided into two parts - Shruti and Smruti. Shruti is the highest granth of Hindu religion, which is completely immutable, that is, no change can be made in any age. The memory texts can change from time to time. Under the Shruti, Vedas: Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda and Atharvaved Brahm Sutras and Upanishads come. Vedas are called Shruti because Hindus believe that these Vedas were told by God to the sages, when they were in deep meditation. According to the Shravan tradition, the Vedas were given to the disciples by the guru. Each Veda has four parts - the Sinhita-Mantra part, the Brahmin-Granth-Prasad episode, in which the rituals are explained, the aridyak -the other mysterious things are explained, the Upanishad-in which Brahma, soul and their relation were discussed. is. If there is a dispute in Shruti and Smriti, then Shruti will be valid only. All the Hindu scriptures are called omnipotence except Shruti because they contain stories which people have remembered over generations and wrote later. All memory texts praise the Vedas. They get lower levels from the Vedas, but they are much easier and most are read by the eternal goddess (very few Hindus read Vedas). The main memorial texts are: - History - Ramayana and Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, Purana - (18), Manusmriti, Dharmashastra and Dharmasutra, Agam Shastra. There are 6 major parts of Indian Philosophy - Sankhya Darshan, Yoga, Justice, Vishheshik, Mimansa, and Vedanta.

सनातन धर्म एक धर्म (या, जीवन पद्धति) है जिसके अनुयायी अधिकांशतः भारत ,नेपाल और मॉरिशस में बहुमत में हैं। इसे विश्व का प्राचीनतम धर्म कहा जाता है। इसे 'वैदिक सनातन वर्णाश्रम धर्म' भी कहते हैं जिसका अर्थ है कि इसकी उत्पत्ति मानव की उत्पत्ति से भी पहले से है। विद्वान लोग हिन्दू धर्म को भारत की विभिन्न संस्कृतियों एवं परम्पराओं का सम्मिश्रण मानते हैं जिसका कोई संस्थापक नहीं है।

यह धर्म अपने अन्दर कई अलग-अलग उपासना पद्धतियाँ, मत, सम्प्रदाय और दर्शन समेटे हुए हैं। अनुयायियों की संख्या के आधार पर ये विश्व का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा धर्म है। संख्या के आधार पर इसके अधिकतर उपासक भारत में हैं और प्रतिशत के आधार पर नेपाल में हैं। हालाँकि इसमें कई देवी-देवताओं की पूजा की जाती है, लेकिन वास्तव में यह एकेश्वरवादी धर्म है।

इसे सनातन धर्म अथवा वैदिक धर्म भी कहते हैं। इण्डोनेशिया में इस धर्म का औपचारिक नाम "हिन्दु आगम" है। हिन्दू केवल एक धर्म या सम्प्रदाय ही नहीं है अपितु जीवन जीने की एक पद्धति है।

सनातन धर्म पृथ्वी के सबसे प्राचीन धर्मों में से एक है; हालाँकि इसके इतिहास के बारे में अनेक विद्वानों के अनेक मत हैं। आधुनिक इतिहासकार हड़प्पा, मेहरगढ़ आदि पुरातात्विक अन्वेषणों के आधार पर इस धर्म का इतिहास कुछ हज़ार वर्ष पुराना मानते हैं। जहाँ भारत (और आधुनिक पाकिस्तानी क्षेत्र) की सिन्धु घाटी सभ्यता में हिन्दू धर्म के कई चिह्न मिलते हैं। इनमें एक अज्ञात मातृदेवी की मूर्तियाँ, भगवान शिव पशुपति जैसे देवता की मुद्राएँ, शिवलिंग, पीपल की पूजा, इत्यादि प्रमुख हैं। इतिहासकारों के एक दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार इस सभ्यता के अन्त के दौरान मध्य एशिया से एक अन्य जाति का आगमन हुआ, जो स्वयं को आर्य कहते थे और संस्कृत नाम की एक हिन्द यूरोपीय भाषा बोलते थे। एक अन्य दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार सिन्धु घाटी सभ्यता के लोग स्वयं ही आर्य थे और उनका मूलस्थान भारत ही था।
सनातन धर्म सबसे पुराना धर्म है।
