USEFUL RULE TWO MINUTES
The essence of the two minutes rule is that if anything is possible to do in less than two minutes, you should do it now.
In fact, we very often put aside petty affairs “for later”, they all gather and as a result we get a real dam. Therefore, a lot of things are more profitable and more convenient to start doing right now, you shouldn’t postpone everything until later. Such things as viewing news or magazines in search of interesting material, an answer to an e-mail or to put the received letter with the invoice to the right place is better to do and forget about it. It seems a trifle, but in the end things are moving.
The unique principle - the “two minutes rule” was coined by David Allen as an expert and consultant in time management and personal productivity, and is described in detail in his book “Getting Things Done”.
First of all, when a new business arises you should decide whether it is worth doing it at all at the moment. If you decide what is worth, then ask the following question - does it take less than two minutes? If so, then do it without delay. If it is not, then postpone it.
Of course, the complete de-flow system does not end with this method, but if you still manage to develop the habit of acting beyond the two-minute rule, you will be able to achieve a significant increase in your productivity. The two-minute rule of habit will help you save a lot of time and nerves in the future.
In fact, two minutes in this rule is not completely accurate, but only conditional time. If you, for example, have a lot of time, it can be ten and fifteen minutes, if it takes you three and a half minutes, this is also nothing terrible. Having done it, you simply get experience, because you already know how much time this particular type of business takes, and in the future you will be able to plan time for it accordingly.
A lot of chores can actually take no more than two minutes of your time. After all, the time you spend, for example, on putting a thing in its usual place is unlikely to exceed what you spend on throwing it to where it is more convenient for you now. Indeed, in the long term, the result is completely different, or all things neatly lie in their places and order in the house or you have to clean up the mess and waste time looking for abandoned things. The real reason for the mess at work, in your “InBox” folder, at home lies not in your character, but in the method of work that you have learned.
Believe me, organization needs and can be learned. If you take an interest in more detail and start practicing, you will develop a habit of acting that way. And, as you know, the set of habits is what forms your character. The ability to properly manage your time will help you become more successful and confident and make out the mess, not only in your home, but also in your life in general.
Remember that the habit of acting according to the rule of two minutes is first of all doing things as soon as they arrive, if they do not take more than two minutes, it can bring you impressive results if you have postponed them for later or done everything.
