THE THIRD EYE - ON INDIAN TELEVISION MEDIA
The Bandh Call ,supported by nearly all oppostion parties was given to protest the supreme
court order of March 20, which changed certain provisions of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities
Act related to arrest and registration of cases.
The oppostion parties ,Dalit organisations and also Dalit members of BJP and its allies had
criticised the order and asked the centre to file a review petition.
I would not try to become Judge myself and comment on this issue but will try to
take your attention to the sitaution which Indian Television Media has created for all the protesters who try to raise
their Voice or Demand.
I say this to you because many of the people watching television
wont be able to see with their left or right eye, they surely need to open up The Third eye
to reach there whats is being done by the media and its effects to the Nation.
we all saw what happened on the streets on 2nd of april 2018, violence, gunshots, fire, distortion
of the public property done by Dalit people with blue otfits.
Those acts cannot be justified nor those people who are respnsible for this violence irrsepective
of their class ,community or gender.
BUT what about Indian teleivision Media ,media has given a clear message to the people of
india that Media will bring your problem or demands in the screen efficiently only if you turn
violent ,only if vehicles are burnt and few people die during protest.
we need to upon look past protests held to understand this ,take the example of Jaat agitation which took
place in haryana and Rajputs Karni Sena. Thses two protest were raised with different demand
alltogether but one thing was similar which you didnt notice and that was media's response to
the protest. Both these protest took place for couple of weeks but media remained silent until
protesters turned violent, until they destroyed public property and once this happened media was
having no other news to popup in their screens.
They never called so called Debates of their own terms and rules when protesters were silent
they never gave detailed look on their demands till they maintained peace.
so whtat message thses media houses are trying to convey ?
Are they saying to burn something to get tv screen share?
Does the Fourth Pillar Of The Consititution act like this ?
Media does have moral respnsibilities not equal to the governement but never the less.
I saw the protest last year in capital of the country against BJP government in the centre done
by farmers who came from soutern part of the country whioch took place for months .
They demanded relief ,from loan wavivers after worst cauvery drought in 150 years ,farmers
wrapped in green cloth with a garland around there motionless body.
The farmers were not having sword or guns in there hand ,they were protesting with skulls
which they claimed to be off fellow farmers who commited sucide over mounting loans.
Theyre mained peacefull. NOW the question is how many ofb us know of such story and how
deep? How much television media gave due importance to such an peacefull protest?
How many debates were held for this? How many questions were raised to goverenment officials
on behalf of the protesting farmers?
Indian Television ,media has turned into a corporate sector which is running behind TRP, and
making a lots of money and chamchagiri.
it seems that media channels are the puppets of one or other political parties and their anchors
are spokespersons of the political parites.
They have forgotten their role to the country and if this behaviour of television media continues
country will face such Bharat band's and violent protest on daily basis.
