Resisted!
Given that there were slot machines and card game tables in between everywhere we went while at the event, this was even more amazing. I was getting to the event early before the venue was opened and despite that did not get the urge to play. While I had thought about it, I never even sat at one time to do it. There was one part where I was going to put $20 into a slot machine just to try my luck but even said to myself, I’d rather put those $20 into more stickers to bring back home. I even surprise myself with the will to resist.
While I enjoy playing some slot machines and card games, I really didn’t have the strength or willingness to sit at a table after all the events had occurred at Splinterfest. I think that was great for us that really wanted to come to enjoy it and not be influenced by our surroundings. However, I do believe that for the next time the event happens it would be better someplace else rather than Las Vegas. Don’t get me wrong, I think everything was put on perfectly for the community and the HyperX Arena was probably the best venue to do so for this first inaugural event.
Being able to resist gambling show me more about myself and where I am in life in addition to how great of an event it truly was. I am sure that if it was 10 years ago, I would not be able to resist and would have come back home with an empty bank account for my playing. However, experience and maturity have gotten me far enough to know that I’d rather put those funds into the ecosystem rather than try my chance! I am sure that a selected few will truly understand how much of a success this truly is personally!
