How do you avoid taking decision in a desperation?
As a psychologist, I would advise against making major decisions during times of intense distress or desperation. When we are overcome with powerful negative emotions like anxiety, sadness or despair, our judgment can become clouded and we may act impulsively in ways that are not well-reasoned or in our best long-term interests.

Practice self-care activities that help soothe your mind like deep breathing, going for a walk in nature, talking to a supportive friend, or writing in a journal. Removing yourself temporarily from the stressful situation can provide needed perspective.
When you are in a calmer state of mind, that is the appropriate time to rationally weigh the pros and cons of your decision and consider how it aligns with your core values and long-term goals. You may even want to consult an objective third party you trust for their input.
Ultimately, avoiding desperation-driven decisions comes down to developing your emotional self-awareness and distress tolerance skills. With practice, you can learn to notice when you are being unduly influenced by intense negative emotions and purposefully pause to implement healthy coping strategies before deciding on a major life course. The choices you make from a grounded, mindful state are more likely to lead to positive life outcomes.
