Marma points

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

I'm not a fan of facials, maybe it is because of the crazy upsale the esthie tend to do, but I was a guinea pig for a new treatment and I was in awe. I've never had such amazing fingers scrub the dead cells out, fan-brush a mask on like an artist and use pressure points that opened up my nasal passage. I never realized that a facial is not only for pampering, but an experience.

Our face holds so many stories: the wrinkling by the eyes, the brown-spots damaged from the sun and the furrowed brows (think much?)

Having someone give it some TLC is a must. Just like the body needs a good rub down to help flush out some build-up and toxins. Our face needs the same.

These were the pressure points she pressed on my face. They are called marma points.

By pressing on these it is suppose to bring inner calmness by balancing disharmonies. Below is segment about marma points.

"In ancient Vedic times, marma points were called bindu – a dot, secret dot or mystic point. Like a door or pathway, activating a marma point opens into the inner pharmacy of the body. The body is a silent, universal, biochemical laboratory—operating every moment to interpret and transform arising events. Touching a marma point changes the body’s biochemistry and can unfold radical, alchemical change in one’s makeup. Stimulation of these inner pharmacy pathways signals the body to produce exactly what it needs, including hormones and neurochemicals that heal the body, mind and consciousness. This deep dimension of marma therapy has the potential to unfold spiritual healing." http://www.ayurveda.com/about/ayurvedic-press/marma-points-of-ayurveda

So next time you see a groupon for a facial or like me offered a free treatment, maybe you'd be adventurous and have at it.
