Anxiety as a learned behavior.

in #blog6 years ago

One of the worse things is tension and anxiety. It’s one of the first things that hits you when you are worried about your future. But apart from being socially, economically based issues, and considering the meritocracy tendencies, it’s also, in a way a family tradition. Quite often you can here clients say something like “My mother use to worry about this” or my father use to worry whenever this happened”. We learn this pattern of behavior from our parents and the less stable the parent was, the more they use to deal with their issues through being scared, anxious and at the same time shown their incapability to deal with the situation the more prone you will be to being anxious whenever something happens, and worse of all whenever nothing happens, good or bad. This learned pattern comes unexpectedly, out of nowhere. Is it always related to something, not exactly. Are parents the only source of this- no. It can be learned from other relatives, or social environment. Also, anxiety at a medium dose can be good. It makes you move, it tells you that there is something that you need to change. That you don’t feel comfortable in here and now, that you aren’t secure enough, that you have to look inside of yourself and find what is that you are lacking. Even a small change can help at times. My personal anxiety was directly connected to my mother, I think I’m still learning how to deal with her. Narcissistic personality doesn’t get better with years☺ Hold on my boys and girls who have similar family structure, or lack of it.
So don’t get angry with yourself the next time you get anxious out of no nowhere. Look deep inside, think what triggered you, and it isn’t necessary something happening in here and now. It can be something a day or a week ago, something that you swiped under the rug, brushed it away as if it was nothing. Some clients found their triggers in the plain of upcoming events in a month or two. When you will find your trigger and the following anxiety ask yourself- am I really truly worried that I wont be able to handle it? Can I do anything for myself to help the situation. Is there something I’m missing in my life to feel better about myself? Search for your answers and help yourself in the healthiest way possible. Do what makes you happy. And if you cant find it on your own, seek help. There is nothing wrong in asking someone to support you and help you in the way you have never been helped before. Give yourself a chance. And good luck☺
