Ø16: A Proper Sunday & The Stone of Brutus

in #blog8 years ago

"Aw ... now there's too many bubbles."

Øutput 16

I had a proper Sunday yesterday. A bacon-buttie breakfast with lots of coffee, a good cleanup of the house (even a spot of window cleaning), a good long bubble bath, shepherd's pie for dinner, and a nice solid reading sesh.

I've also got into the habit of doing a Sunday Review.

I've got a series of questions that I picked up from somewhere. Questions like 'What did I learn last week?' and 'What can I do right now to make the week less stressful?'.

I don't go into too much detail on the answers. I'm not writing essays. I'm just putting my mind in that reflective mood, making note of the good and the bad, the things I want to improve upon in the coming week. It's like an employee review except I'm the boss and the employee.

I've picked up loads of these weird self-helpy habits along the way. I have no idea if they're doing anything or if they're just a big old waste of time.

But still I do them ... just in case.

The Other Stories Write-A-Thon

No excuses yesterday! I took a big old bite of that apple and finished the first story for the challenge.

Sure it's messy and about 1000 words over target, but it's done. And remember, perfection is the enemy of done ... so shoot perfection in the face. Maybe shoot a few times because it's likely your too sloppy a shot to hit on the first time around.

Anyway, I'm going to try and finish story 2 today.

IDEA 118: I've been reading about the London Stone.

A chunk of pretty plain looking rock unmoved for the last 900 years at least.

William Blake believed the site of the relic was a sacrificial stone circle used by druids, whose victims 'groan'd aloud on London Stone'

It's also been called the Stone of Brutus (after the mythical founder of the capital). An ancient warning comes with the limestone block that says: 'So long as the Stone of Brutus is safe, so long will London flourish.'

There's a big uproar at the minute because some property development company want to move the stone.

So here's the story idea.

They move the stone.

Unwittingly they release ancient druid demons into the city as well as a confused old Roman general ... Brutus.

It's up to Brutus, some historian, and the Muslim man who owns the shop around the corner from the London Stone, to fight back the forces that the London Stone held back and put the stone back where it belongs.
