Beach walks

We have lived 15 minutes away from the beach for 8 years and I only just started to use it regularly. I wouldn't have even started if it wasn't for someone recommending beach walks as a means of healing. The elements of this world are there for us, never too far away. Waiting patiently for us to return. That's the way it feels anyway. Or maybe we are waiting for them. I often visit the same places on my walks and each time I go these places looks different. Sometimes there are thousands of little shells and other times just a few. Sometimes tons of big rocks find their way on to land and I think about how strong the storm was the night before and imagine what it was like out there the night before. Then I usually look out at the waves but I can't look for too long because the power of the ocean scares me a bit. So I take a deep breath and go back to looking at the sand and shells and turquoise water washing up close for a while. And it soothes me.
