Traveling in Lisbon - Sao Jorge Castle in Lisbon Portugal

In Lisbon Portugal, the best view can be found from Castle Sao Jorge which gives a 360 degree view over the entire city. Red roof tops stretch for miles and the river Tagus can be sen in the distance.

The canon in the first picture was used in the past to protect the castle from invaders. The arrow slots also served a purpose for archers to shoot arrows at those who dare to attack.

This is the first time I have been to a castle that is in such a big city. Usually when I think of castles, I think of them being in a remote area on the country side.

The castle is a top site in Lisbon Portugal and the views were stunning.
