Courier Services in Greece are in a TOTAL Black Out
Courier Services in Greece are in a total black out the past couple of weeks and more specifically after "Black Friday.
Greek courier services claim the combination of Lockdown, Black Friday and Christmas added an unexpected workload on their stuff and that's the reason behind all these delivery delays. Is this a legit excuse though?
This is how a courier warehouse looks like this days in Greece

My Opinion
Even a 6-year old kid could see that coming! Of course people were gonna go nuts in online shopping on Black Friday and Christams.
I've read numerous complaints from courer delivery employees the past couple of weeks and all these hard-working men said the exact same thing.
We work more than 10 hours a day without getting paid while our bosses are making a shitload of money
Courier delivery employees also stated that their employers decided not to hire new staff 'cause it's a bad economically-speaking move while in lockdown. I say FUCK THEM
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer
That's exactly what's happening. Courier services in Greece reported a 67% rise in their workload. That's a 67% up in gains for them.
Do you think courier companies care if some of their staff actually die while they race through the city on their motorcicle to deliver as many parcels as they can while it's raining? I don't think so.
Do you think courier companies care if they force their staff to work more than 10 hours a day wothout getting paid and threaten them that they will loose their job if they don't? I don't think so.
Do you think rich people care about you at all? Nah, you are just a "slave" to them and nothing more.
What can we do?
There is very little we can do and calling the courier services 24/7 asking them where the f*ck is your parcel is probably the worst thing you can do right now. You only add extra pressure to the already existing pressure on courier delivery employees.
Here are a couple of things you can do though :
- Patience (patience is a virtue)
- Keep track of your order online
- Tip the courier delivery employee
- Complain about the delays on social-media and blame the companies for not hiring
- Do not order more stuff than you need
Has the same thing happened to your country?
I've read DHL and UPS deliver without delays but these are 2 of the most well-known courier services in the world so it makes sense. How about your local courier companies though?
Are you experiencing the same delay like us Greeks? Is there anything else you want to add in the things we can do to get our hands on our parcels? Let's connect at the comment section bellow and exchange ideas and knowledge!
