Today's Weed News for March 21st 2018
Today's weed news is about a functioning all-hemp airplane!
That's right, a Canadian company has successfully designed the first airplane that is not only made almost entirely out of hemp, but it actually flyes using only hemp oil as fuel!
Hempearth and their CEO Derek Kesek value pot for a lot more than just the high. They view it as having great potential as a sustainable resource and building material.
Not only is cannabis one of the healthiest plants known to man but it is also 10 times stronger than steel and much lighter - comprable to aluminum in weight. It is also more flexible so it is much less prone to fracturing under heavy weight.
That's why Hempearth, the designers, and a Florida company called Velocity Inc. who built it, were able to create the 36 foot wide 5 passenger aircraft that is able to fly just as safely and much more efficiently than regular planes.
Hemp was also used to make the seats and pillows on the airplane. It is important to note that growing hemp requires significantly less water than growing cotton and that the hemp also helps replenish the soil with some nutrients as it grows.
A pilot and four passengers were able to complete a successful test flight that went off without a hitch!
It's crazy to think that this technology has been known about since Henry Ford made the body of the Model T out of hemp in the early 1900s.
But now that we see that replacing fossil fuels with hemp oil, and metal and plastics with hemp-based materials is possible, we need to begin implementing this type of technology before it's too late for the Earth.

I personally believe that we will soon all come to realize that cannabis and hemp actually can save the planet and help companies make money. It will be everywhere in the near near future.
