Expression beyond isolation:
A dichotomy you may wish to ponder. If the Universe wishes for everything to be expressed, then how effective is prevention? In contrast, whats the effectiveness of intention, imposed upon everything? These may initially appear to be a play on words or a trivial puzzle - not worth anyone’s time in unravelling; however, stop for one second and lets contemplate what far-reaching implications personal intent may have.
The common misconception surrounding the human condition, is that we, as an organism, are individuals. Separated at birth, categorised by gender, assigned numerous attributes, then define by name. Our skin, and proximity adds certainty to this ontological state, and how people interact with each other, cements the metaphysical concepts that we accept as the norm today.
But query, if you please, the notion that, we don’t actually come into this world; rather we come out of it, and that being in the world requires a continual symbiosis. This isn’t an Individualism versus Collectivism debate, where a locus of control seeks a deterministic scale. Rather, a spot-light on many of the symbiotic aspects of human life, forgotten, dismissed, devalued and undiscovered.
Imagine if you will, a crew of Sailors trapped inside a submarine; totally cut-off from the surface, with limited resources and an inevitable expiration date. In the madness that ensues the Senior Officers suggests culling the crew, to conserve air, food, etc.. Commencing with those less productive, and unable to defend themselves and then rapidly extending to dissenters and the violently opposed! By this time of course, the rule of law, morality and any form of human rights has been abandoned, leaving only a chain of command.
Seen as an act of self-defence, against the onset of doom, toxic gas is then pumped into the remaining crew’s quarters, staving off, for a period of time, the certain death of the Senior Offices and the Captain. Unwittingly, the fortified / certain idea of isolation held within the team was not absolute; thereby gassing the entire vessel and bringing a swift conclusion to all on-board.
Everything in, and surrounding this scenario is heaped on flawed logic, is void of any believable back-story and any lessons learnt here, are not comparable from emergency situations in general life. An avid reader could list countless more discrepancies here, inconsistencies and unanswered questions; but therein lays my entire point! A crude and slightly crass idea, is being injected in to the knowledge of oneself, which will propagate from you to everyone you'll meet in the near future - forever changing how you see and interact with the world!
Even at the finite point of knowledge, we are all connected; being exposed willingly or not to truly expansive ideas or merely consuming Autumncrisps infected with misinformation and malice. Circling back to the rudimentary point where, intent made to effect change does not insulate anyone from these affects / effects - as the Universe has in-roads / means of expression far beyond both the scope and imaginings of mere men.
History recalls the deeds of the arrogant. Where in their time, intent, application and outcome were certain - until an unknown variable became apparent! The modern day equivalent would be trusting in a Super-Computers modelling, only to find thereafter that outliers and scope has a far more rebounding scale - then first thought. Chaos theory would argue, that the random beat of a butterfly’s wing, may grow to produce a transitory hurricane - on the other side of the world. I would argue that invasive deeds, may have a longer lasting miscarry.
