BLOG:CRAZY BUNGEE JUMP IN NEPAL 160M – THIRD HIGHEST IN THE WORLD

When I found out there was a huge bungee jump in Nepal not far from Kathmandu, I knew it was on the cards. The jump is located on a suspension bridge, which hangs 160m above the Bhote Kosi River. The raging rapids in the canyon below make the jump exhilarating but quite intimidating.

I decided I would surprise my Lapsang, my trekking guide, with a ticket to bungee jump. We took off at 6 am in the morning from Thamel, Kathmandu. The bus journey was long and bumpy. However, I was easily entertained by the scenes in villages, along with the river, and in the mountains, as we wound our way towards the biggest bungee jump in Nepal and the third highest bungee jump in the world.

After four hours we arrived at the highest bungee jump in Nepal and then the wait began. Patience is required for this day trip. Along with the four-hour drive, we were then at the bridge for over five hours during the day. This included the briefing and waiting for others to jump but we also had time to enjoy a buffet Nepali-style lunch.

You can jump forward or if it is your second jump backward from the platform, 160m high. Alternatively, there is a canyon swing, which drops you down before slinging you through the canyon. This jump has you dropping feet first instead of head first like the bungee.

Lapsang and I both went for the head first bungee. I ‘ve been bungee jumping before but the feeling never gets old. My body is fine jumping off the platform and then after it realizes it is free-falling the adrenaline buzzes throughout your body, unsure of what is happening.

As you can see from the video we had a blast and I enjoyed spending one of my last days in Nepal upside down hurtling towards a river.

If you have an entire day spare (We arrived back at 9 pm), love adrenaline and have good patience this is definitely an activity to go for while in Nepal.
