A Very Traditional Christmas
Part Two of the Party Series - Part One
Freshman year of college, Friday nights were about one thing: Tradition. Each Friday as the sun went down, my hallmates would trot down to my dorm room, and like Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof, proclaim to each other that it was time for our weekly Tradition: our flavor of the pregame. As the clock ticked towards 11 pm (the time the fraternity parties began), the whispers of nervous freshman trying not to attract the attention of RA's gradually shifted to the roars of frosh debauchery.
After a number of trial locations, the weekly pregame eventually landed in my roommate and mine's room - Hank 403. The location was eventually settled on because it was nestled in a corner at the end of the hall: one of the larger rooms and easier to hide the noise from those who we would have preferred not to wander in. Eventually "Tradition" began to garner a cult following, accepting outsiders from other dorms to our weekly congregation. To the sounds of 2-Chainz and Ca$h Out, our group formed friendships that would thrive and grow throughout our four years of college.
Eventually, as our first semester of college came to an end and Christmas vacation was approaching, we decided to throw a Christmas party - like any good college students would. We decked the halls, poured the shots, and cranked Moriah Carey to 11. A Very Traditional Christmas was born. Holiday cheer, kamikaze cocktails, and Afroman's "Deck my Balls" set the scene for an unforgettable night.
The next morning, the promise was created to never stop throwing this party. Each fall as we returned for the new school year, our anticipation for Christmas would already begin to mount. As December came around, we gathered for our peppermint schnapps and chocolate syrup fueled acclamation of friendship, community, and unbridled hedonism.
The following photos are from senior year A Very Traditional Christmas - four years to the day of our gathering in the 403. Through the following photos I hope you can experience the passion we had for each other and the friendships we were able to build. Enjoy!
