I faked it, but did I make it?
About 6 months ago I wrote Fake it till you make it, a post about going into a new job. A 6 month position covering for someone who is off sick.

The job is a more senior position of which I had very little experience and I was, quite frankly, shitting myself over it. Its one of those roles that is more important than is usually stated.. screwing it up could make you look really bad, but getting it right can impress a lot of the right people and open new doors.
another unrelated picture.. but ooooh pretty bridge! (if you are into that)
Well some people in the comments asked me to follow up on this and let them know how it went. I am right now in my last week. I finish this posting on thursday, though technically tomorrow is my last day as I am at a training course all day thursday.
Anyway, I definitely did not know what I was doing in the beginning. I was nervous as hell and the first day in the office was quite painful because of it. My nerves eased after a few days though and now all is pretty good. I spent a lot of time in the first two weeks meeting and interviewing colleagues, finding out what their jobs were and how that related to what I was doing and figuring out what the expectations of my new role were.
I found after some time that things were getting a little easier and my biggest challenge was people management.
This post is a long-winded way of saying, "everything went fine, its all good and i learned stuff too". I also got some praise for my boss in handling some tricky staff issues. so all in all I think it went well, and I was able to 'fake it till i made it'. To me know that statement means something else. To me now it refers to the learning curve you are faced whenever you face a new job.
Thanks for Looking.
