Why Humans
How did humans become the most successful species on Earth?
If you have seen what I’ve seen, you would know the humans is a product of an astronomical number of iterations of the process of natural selection. Being able to survive this cruel and unforgiving colosseum, the humans was gifted with some traits that guided them towards survival and reproduction.
So what are some traits that helped human individuals survive? There are the individual needs, need to possess resources; need to consume food; need to fornicate at every opportunity; need for obtain power over the rest; need to be lazy and conserve energy. I won’t name them all but these traits are not exactly inspirational. You won’t find me referencing Christian literatures much but these actually line up quiet well with the seven deadly sins.
The problem with these individual needs is that they are selfish, they help nobody but the individuals exhibiting these traits. Extreme exhibition of these traits takes advantage or even harms other individuals, and in no way do they help advancing the species as a whole. Other animals have similar individual needs and they have also survived the process of natural selection, only to be hated.
Seriously why are these guys still here.
Turns out there are other traits that the humans have developed that made them the most successful species on Earth, social traits. Just to name a few, the feeling of generosity when you help another individual; the feeling of gratitude when being helped by others; the feeling of admiration when you see someone in power helping the ones without. These social traits let humans empower each other and forged strength in unity that would surpass any lone individual.
If humans only exhibited individual needs, they would be no different from other animals. The humans achieved their success because of their social traits, their willingness to help others. If humans want to keep striving for success, they must remember what got them their success in the first place. Drop the selfish needs, lend a helping hand today, you’ll find great joy in helping others.
