life is almost good - The Times They Are A-Changin’
I am taking a leap.
I am leaving my job on May 11. I’ve been with the company nearly five years. I know May 11 is a long ways off, but due to the nature of my job, I gave a massive amount of notice.
This job has been my home away from home for so long that I wonder if I’ll accidentally show up for work after I’m done. I love the people I work with. They are family to me.
So Lindee, why are you leaving then? You might ask.
I mentioned in my introduction post (Welcome!) that I am almost good at a lot of things (hence the name of my blog) and that it’s time for me to be something I’m all the way good at. Well, as it turns out, accounting is something I’m only almost good at.
At this point in my life, what I’m good at is being a mom, being compassionate, writing, and listening. So I took a giant leap and with tears in my eyes, I gave my wonderful boss my 3 month notice. He was (and has always been) a tremendous source of wisdom, knowledge and support for me. He was 100% supportive of my decision and up until May 11th, I’ll continue to be the best right hand (wo)man to him that I can possibly be.
So as the great Bob Dylan sang, The Times They Are A-Changin’ for the V family and I can’t wait to see what this new adventure brings.
Have you ever made a huge leap to do something you’re all the way good at?

I know that had to be a bit scar to make that leap, but it sounds like you've got the right support around you and the right mindset to make it work. I've never made that leap to get into something I know I;m good at, not yet at least, but it's certainly one of those things that burns at me with each passing day. I believe that time is coming, though, sooner that later!
It was scary! It just hit me one day that I was so unhappy because I was spending all day everyday doing something that made me feel dumb because I didn't quite get it or enjoy it. It is like the quote:
"Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid." - A. Einstein
Time for this fish to quit trying to climb a tree.
Cheers!
