The -sweet- reason of my inconsistency
You might have noticed that I had some days of absence here, for the last couple of weeks. The reason? A new puppy in the family! Her name, Phoebe.
I love dogs so much and since my previous dog stayed with my parents, I had to get my own. I grew up with dogs and their absence in my life was huge.
Since our “family dog” was adopted by us when she was 1.5 years old-we found her mistreated-, I have really forgotten how it is to own a puppy! A Nightmare. I haven’t slept for two weeks now as she needs to pee every three hours, she whines for attention, she follows me everywhere, she is also pooping everywhere and is chewing all my favourite furniture, besides my hands and my hair.
I have read every single article on the web on how to train a puppy, how to deal with the nipping, how to learn your dog discipline etc. Cesar Millan plays 24/7 in the telly and the little demon barks at him like crazy, like she doesn’t want me to ever put her in order.
Every afternoon she enters the twilight zone. She becomes a monster. She goes nuts and runs like crazy and not even treats can stop her. Afternoon used to be my favourite part of the day and now I’m almost crying when it comes.
One week ago, she was left alone for a couple of hours and when I got back my cute puppy had painted the WC walls with her poop with her little adorable paws. She was waving her tail excited to see me and I just wanted to commit suicide.
That WC has become my prison. This is where I try to potty train her and I’ve spent like 48 hours in there, looking at the walls, looking at her, biting my nails, reading my book, knitting, thinking, sleeping. She enjoys taking a nap in there but not making her number 1 or number 2!
I also try to make her love her crate as she has to sleep in there. I call it a home and I make all the silly sounds to make her get in there. I almost got myself in there to show her how good it feels and she gave me a look like “right get in there you idiot while I’m running free and ruining the house”. Instead of training her, she is training me. When she gets in there she pees, I take her out to clean the mess and now every time she wants to get out she does the same thing over and over again.
When she sleeps however, she is an angel. I look at her and she melts my heart. I’m really looking forward to proceeding to the next level of a not so naughty puppy and share more hours of happiness together, running carefree, playing without any zoomies, going for walks and cuddling.
So please forgive me for not uploading every single day as I used to, as I'm a wreck and I'm struggling to teach my little munchkin good manners...
Even with their poor eyesight, dogs can still see better at night than humans do.
That's true and impressive! Thanks for the info :)
Puppies are nature's remedy for feeling unloved, plus numerous other ailments of life. When you feel lousy, puppy therapy is indicated. And if we talk about care, the puppies suck like human babies. But the pros of having a puppy are more than cons.
I totally agree with you! She is a sweetheart and love her to death.. It is just a biiit exhausting :P
You are really in love with her
Agreed, laughter is medicine for the soul. And puppies are medicine for the soul as well. Put those two together into a blender, and.... oh, wait, haha, don't do that.
Awwww cuteness overload! I can totally relate! Raising a puppy is a tough job! But it's definitely worth the effort!
She is the cutest little devil :) It is really tough but I know it is so hard just in the beginning... If I remember correctly from my first dog :P
And where is the photo of this little robber? Or is it classified information?
Isn't the photo displayed correctly on the top?
Now I see! This is a miracle! )))
:)) my little lion with her tiger :P
Make this damn puppy work. Photograph it in every possible way and angle.
Whore it out and get more upvotes. :)
hahaha you think so? :P
of course, it's a cute little dog . you will be rich.
πήρες σκυλάκι;;; ειναι πολύ όμορφο...
Ναι!! Ευχαριστώ πολύ!! :))
Wow, you sure do have your hands full.I hope you have better luck in the future.Dogs sure can be a challenge.I now have a cat which is still a chore or two to deal with but I love him and it is worth it.Keep up the great effort I am following to see how you make out. Thanks for the great post!
Cats tend to do their own thing more often than dogs. Some animals can be maybe too stubborn at times. Love animals so much.
Puppyhood can be really challenging indeed! Thank you for your comment :))
Like people, there is a wide variety of dogs, some are tougher to train, may take more time. We found a stray kitten and I tried weeks to tame Tiger, or maybe his name was Baby. Keep up the good work. I have sympathy, empathy. Very interesting. A little funny. A little sad. The best of luck to you. Thanks for sharing, hehe. I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold. You can call me Joey.
Hey Joey! :) That's true! Each of them has its own personality.. Mine is a bit stubborn :P But we are doing some progress here! :)) Thank you for your comment! :)
Keep up the good work. How are you?
We are doing some progress here :D
That is good. That is incredible for sure.
How exciting, she is so beautiful! Puppy training is hard work but worth it so hang in there!
I eventually trained my dog to pee on instruction, but I remember the painful beginning only too well. Plus I thought it was a good idea to have a baby at the same time!
Hronia polla kai na sou zisei! X
Thank you @airlea!! :)) a puppy and a baby?? Oh God!! Congratulations for getting through it! :D
I try really hard to potty train her but she is a stubborn little monkey! She almost got to know other commands but not where to go poop and pee :P
Xronia polla!! Euxaristw!! :) <3
