RE: Stop Implicating My Etiquette - Sir & Ma'am Are Respectful

in #blog5 years ago (edited)

We live in a time where people can be offended by almost anything, the cultural norms are changing, but not necessarily for the better. The idea that someone can be sued today simply for assuming someone else's gender is just crazy.

We need more eloquence and politeness in our life. We need more gentlemen and gentlewomen in our society.

Haha, yes @dr-frankestein, exactly!
You know, I'd like to figure out when things began changing, as you pointed out, pivoting toward the mess we have today.

Initially, I thought it was the internet giving people just enough information to be misinformed and a platform to spread their confusion. Maybe that's where the first accident happened that led to the big pile up, but I'm not so certain anymore. Communities like Steemit exist in response to that, right?

At least I'd like to think they do.

I think it's a question of ethics. To know what is right and wrong, and who has the right to define moral standards.

From my perspective, it's all about politics. If you have politicians ready to support almost anything just to get as much support as possible from the population, you can be sure to expect some very bad consequences. Bad decisions will pile up, weird things will become the new norms, and everyone will start to think that truth/righteousness is a subjective thing ... some people like to be misinformed, to live in a dream just because the truth is too bitter for them.

The Blockchain technology came indeed as a response to a form of oppression, it offers something really important to people, which is the concept of immutability (anti-censorship).

I'm offended by your response.
