Social and Political discourse is at breaking point. Political polarisation is at truly catastrophic levels and it seems to be increasingly more difficult to have a rational and logical discussion without someone being brandished a cuck or a nazi. The rise of identity politics on the left has truly emboldened the identity politics of the right. Both ideologies are toxic. German collectivism has resurfaced, and we seem to be repeating the same ideological battle we fought in the 20th century. It amazes me how eager we seem to go through that again.

There's a great quote “Freedom is never truly won, we have to fight for it with every generation.” And our generation is no different. Liberalism is under attack and I want to show that there can be an alternative to the madness we see in the current left-right dichotomy.

Science and logic are flying out the window and every conversation has been infused with morality. It seems we cannot make a single argument without having our moral value questioned, even on seemingly amoral topics. We seem to take criticisms of our ideas as personal attacks on our character. We need to stop this. We need to divorce our ideas from our identity and remove the morality from our discussions. Every idea should be criticised, but to do that we have got to foster an environment that allows this to happen. We cannot solve the issues of today if we cannot have an open conversation about them. The Outrage Culture needs to be dismantled and we must return to logical, evidence-based discourse. Otherwise, we risk descending into chaos.

When words fail, violence prevails.

Now more than ever we need a return to Liberal values, we need to foster a sense of compassion and reinstall a sense of personal responsibility. We need to stand up for the sanctity of the individual and celebrate all the ways that differentiate us from each other. These differences make us unique and that is a truly miraculous thing. Who wants to be just another mindless cog in a bigger homogenous machine. I would rather be appreciated for the unique attributes I bring to the table, rather than my ability to conform. More importantly, the sanctity of the individual is what grants us individual rights. When a society becomes more important than the individual, the individual can be sacrificed for society and we see the early stages of this happening already.

The left and the right are fighting it out to determine which collectivism is the legitimate one true solution. The truth is, there's only a hair's breadth of difference between these two and it leaves many people trying to choose between the lesser of two evils. But we don’t have to be a part of this madness.

We can reject this Left Right Dichotomy. We can recognise the true alternative. Liberalism. We can stand up for individuality. We can stand up for liberty. We can stand up, for Liberal values.

Together we can help carve out a space for centre ground political thought, showing a viable alternative to the madness we see in the current political sphere. Many people reject the dogma of the left and the right but see little alternatives.

Together we can help others realise that there are alternatives to this madness.
