28 Day Water Fast For Weight Loss?

There are so many diets and approaches to weight loss out there, but not one as extreme as this!

A video, which has gone viral, shows a young man named Jay, who is popular on YouTube documenting his weight loss progress. In the video, Jay explains how he is unhappy with his weight and has attempted many times and with various methods to lose weight.

What Jay Decided To Do

Jay outlines to his viewers how he came across water fasting and how he decided to give it a go to help him lose weight.

He began his water fast on February 7, 2017, weighing 112kg (247lbs) and measuring 6’2”.

During this period he documented the process for his YouTube channel, taking progress pictures on a weekly basis to show the dramatic changes in his weight.

By the end of the 28 days fast, he had dropped 23.6kg (52 lbs).

Is water fasting healthy?

Although there are benefits to fasting, there are severe side effects such as vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Water Fasting for too long can lead to potassium deficiencies which can result in your heart to fail.

Fad and short term diets are not the best for weight loss, sure you lose weight, but it is not true weight loss. These types of diets are not sustainable. Such dieting methods do not instill healthy eating or life changing habits.

The most healthy, sustainable and safe way to lose weight is to follow a healthy lifestyle, which includes; eating whole foods, exercising regularly and tracking your macronutrients, if you need to help understanding portion sizes. No extreme or drastic changes are necessary to lose weight. It is important to follow a lifestyle that you can adhere to for the long term.

Opting to live a healthy but also flexible lifestyle over the next dieting craze allows you to not only see results when it comes weight loss but also see positive changes to your mindset. Your life will no longer become repetitive, your weight loss journey will no longer take over your life. You will not be waiting for that end date to come because it is not a diet.
