Thank you @lval115 for sharing your family history. I am happy for what happened, that your parents had escaped persecution in USSR and also saddened that they had to leave and leave their relatives too but what is important is that you are all doing fine now.
Yes, it was very hard for them, but they persevered and gave me the life I have today.
