Final Sunset of the Year: My Reflection Upon 2018

in #blog6 years ago

Hey guys! This is a picture I took on my mum's phone of the final sunset of 2018 at Rosebud in Victoria, Australia.

My Personal 2018

2018 has been a roller coaster year for me with many highs and lows.

It started off with my first week at university, a massive transition for me from being the oldest kids at my all boys select entry high school to the youngest at a massive university. Despite everything being very foreign, and not being able to navigate to save my life, I made it through my first week with the help of many friends who got into the same university as me.

However, as university went on I had very little motivation to do any work and spent most my time on Reddit or Steemit looking at crypto stuff, or playing games like League of Legends and Hearthstone. To make things worse, my girlfriend of 3 years broke up with me and my crypto was going to shit (I was all in on COSS at the time). I spent the next few months going out with friends at least once or twice every week, staying at uni until late doing fuck all and getting further and further behind in my studies. However, in this time period I had met a girl, someone who I had really liked but someone I felt was too good for me, let's refer to her as my crush from here on in!

Fast forward a few months and I had lost around 70% from my all time high in crypto, my studies weren't looking any brighter and exams were incoming. Things weren't looking very good and I remember making this post as I frantically procrastinated on Steemit instead of studying. However, I think it was around now that my social life was at its best, I had more friends than ever, I had become vice president of a uni club and I was talking to my crush more and more! Despite all this, I somehow managed to cram enough content to finish my semester off quite well, MUCH better than what I deserved to be honest.

Then came second semester. Things crypto-wise were still going down the shitter, but at least things with my crush was going well. Throughout this semester, we got closer and closer since I decided to start driving her to uni since we had similar timetables. I remember having trouble waking up in the mornings until I thought about seeing her, which was the predominant reason I got outta bed on time on many occasions. I started to take better care of myself, play sports and exercise while eating better too. I even started studying!!

Fast forward to exam period again and I felt more fucked than I did for first semester despite putting in literally like 3 times more work throughout the semester, probably because I spent so much time talking to my crush. After taking three exams, a few days before my final exam, she asked ME out! It came as a shock (but not really) since I was gonna ask her out after exams and I was pretty sure of her answer. I remember the totally euphoric feeling I felt for many days, which became quite the hindrance when it came to studying for my last exam. Surprisingly, I managed to BS enough on my exam to score a distinction in that unit.

It's been almost 2 months since I've started dating my girlfriend and it's honestly been some of the happiest days of my life so far. Maybe one day when I decide to show my identity here on Steemit I'll post some pictures of her, but 'til then I'll just stay hidden behind my computer!!

My 2018 on the Steem Blockchain

My Steem presence throughout 2018 has also been very varied. There was a period of time where I posted almost 4 times a day, whereas now I post close to 5-10 times per month.

I feel like most of my time on the Steem blockchain has been spent on Steem Monsters, which I think paves the way for gaming on the Steem blockchain. I sincerely hope that there are more games that choose the Steem blockchain as the one to use as I truly believe that Steem offers the perfect formula for success; fast, free and one of the most loyal communities I've ever seen.

My Future on the Steem Blockchain

Even if I don't post much any more, I feel like I'll be playing Steem Monsters daily for a very long time. It has become an obsession! I am hoping that I find the motivation to post more though, interacting with followers was very rewarding and I enjoyed it a lot.

However, my ultimate goal is to build something here. I'm in my second year of university (wow, I remember back when I was making a post about just starting uni!!) studying commerce and computer science. My plan is to build a small application, anything that works then slowly build something bigger that has utility and might actually improve the our little ecosystem.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

May 2019 treat us crypto-lovers better than 2018
