Preparing to charge forward by eliminating a massive mental loop

in #blog6 years ago

Hey everyone, this ones a bit of a personal update around the Medium post I shared with you recently.

I'm also getting closer to launching a series of posts around decentralisation on Steemit, and I'm quite excited to get that underway.

Before I do though, I've committed to getting this Medium post out there, it's been with me for about 7 months.

This has become a big deal, but maybe I can make something valuable out of that.

Putting myself out there on a platform should not be such a big deal. I'm building this up too much and I definitely don't like how large it's become, but maybe I can turn this to my advantage by making it an even bigger deal. Hmm..

Context

Over the weekend, I had a few lazy days, I didn't get much done as I burnt out. Some domestic stuff here and there, and a bit of work, but not too much, you know.

On Monday, I went to the new company (2nd job) and may have locked in some payment for my work with them, which sounds ridiculous, but that's just how startups work sometimes, and I think they've got a great natural screening process for new employees.

Side note: Lately, I've been embodying something that I learned off a Youtube about attracting money, so I guess this is a bit of an experiment in it. Aaron Doughty talks about how you can resonate with the frequency of money, and the key is to think about how you would act if you already had money. This eventually leads to feeling abundant all the time, as if you have everything you need. And this opens you up to the opportunities to make money.

Anyway, despite this and despite me wanting to perform at this new company to get paid, I decided to prioritise my own Medium post. It's become a big deal, which isn't necessarily a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm thinking of preparing myself for some momentum that might follow it. Momentum is something I read about in Chapter 1https://au.thankyou.co/pages/chapter-one). a book by the CEO of Thankyou. Daniel talks about and provides personal example of when momentum came into his life, and stresses how we should cling onto it whenever we have it, as it is hard to come by.

"Like, now that's out of the way, let's prepare to build your digital profile more. Let's get your social profiles up to date - Let's organise your digital structure into something that makes sense to the world - the stuff you've been putting off doing for a while. Also, fix up your crypto investments completely. And get up earlier, and exercise more." ah, that's too much, but I'll be keeping in mind that this is prime opportunity for momentum to come along.

When visiting this draft again today, I lost track of it for a little while editing and couldn't really tell what I wanted to put. My lack of pre-defined structure for the post is making things difficult, but that's okay - I went for a walk and voice recorded my thought process and things came together a bit. In it's current state, the draft is very blunt and there's little flow between paragraphs and sections, but I feel like the sections have well-defined intent, it's just a matter of connecting them up smoothly.

Before I close off, I just thought about sharing something on Instagram. Steemit hit 1 million registered users the other day woohoo! I also took it as an opportunity to throw some money into my account, at the moment my crypto investments are a bit of a mess and don't actually mirror what I find valuable in the crypto space.

I don't post consistently on Instagram, but here's a Steemit promo I would use.

Made in Canva, a smartphone app.

I'm wondering about how we should or shouldn't drive traffic to the platform. As much as sharing Steemit with your friends and family is amazing, inspiring people to register an account is a tricky ordeal. I've explained this to a lot of friends recently, and only a few are seriously interested in creating accounts (which isn't a terrible result really).

At the end of the day though, any talk of the platform is good, I'm just someone who's drawn to details in approach.

Ciao!
