My First Time Riding with Friends (SnowBlog Day 5)
This was by far my most enjoyable day snowboarding. Some of my best friends and I decided to meet up and ride together. It was my first time riding with friends and I think I will never forget it.
It was also my first time riding on fresh, pure, beautiful powder. It felt like floating, the trails that were steep and scary no longer felt like a threat. Falling was like falling on pillows. Lovely.
Our first run was the easiest I ever did. I was riding switch, doing 360s on the ground.... It felt as if the board was riding itself.
The experience of riding with friends was very special. Just being there, with people I love, having a great time together. It was priceless. I can’t wait to do it again.
Perhaps the most awesome part of the day was when our group split up, leaving me and another "less experienced" rider on some remote terrain. We tried to get out of it through a blue run but it was so long and flat that after much irritation I decided to drop left into a my first black run.
To be honest, it wasn’t bad at all. I actually had an awesome time on it. Of course there were a few parts were I had to side slip for a bit, but other than that I felt super comfortable on the terrain. It was unexpected and a fairly bold move on my part, but we got out of it safely and look forward to returning for more black runs.
I don't know how to snowboard. I don't think I can even balance on a board if it was just sitting on a solid flat floor in my lounge but I could feel the adrenaline reading your post. This is great :)
Thanks. This is only my 5th time. I think learning wasn't so difficult as I though it would be. You should give it a try! =D
