Varieties Of Dragons.

Over the long history, we have seen many fantasy universes and many creatures, but against the background of all the majestic reptiles stand out - dragons. I have repeatedly come across the fact that they do not even understand the elementary classification of these creatures. It was for this that I decided to create a blog data, for what I can do to bring at least a little clarity to the understanding of the phenomenon like dragons, although I understand to make mistakes himself most likely and in plans I only have to walk superficially on this material.

Wyverns

I would like to say that I personally call them viverns, since this word was formed from the English word Wyvern and sounds like [ˈwɪvən] with the accent on 1 syllable. They can also be found under such a name as the classic European dragon, because if you look at the medieval images of this type of dragon.

Unlike the classes of dragons, they have only 1 pair of limbs and wings, on which there may be limbs that have 2 non-coalescent pairs of limbs and wings. Wurms, Lindworms, and Wyrms

It is also worth noting that over time, this type was divided into 3 more: Sea dragons, Land Lindworms and huge worms, like the ones we saw in the Duna universe.

Classic dragons

There is not much to say about classic dragons. In this type of dragon, there are 2 pairs of limbs with wings, and predominantly they all have fire-breathing breath and hard scales.

Oriental (Asian) Dragons

Eastern dragons, unlike their Western counterparts, are not terrible monsters. In the East, he is a genius and a symbol of strength and kindness. The dragon is the spirit of change, and therefore the spirit of life itself ... In their structure, they are similar to the wurmas, namely, the lack of wings, but unlike the Lindworms they have the ability to fly, and there may be another 1 pair of limbs.

Drakes

Drakes are typical representatives of the draconids. They have the size of a large bear and differ from others in that they do not have wings, but have four limbs. They have a long fleshy neck and head with yellow light-sensitive eyes, a mouth with a large number of razor-sharp teeth, and long horns in males.

Their body is covered with thick scaly plates, usually gray; small spikes grow on the back and the long fleshy tail. All four legs are very strong and have large sharp claws.
