How to get loads of up-votes & comments!

in #blog7 years ago

The more comments you get – the greater your SEO status – the greater the chances of your blogs trending.

How to get people to read right down to the bottom of your blog:

  • Remember there are real people out there. Not vague entities out there in space!

First impressions count:

Normally, if you were meeting people in person, you would start with a slow smile spreading over your face showing you recognized them and it was so good to see them.

But when writing a blog, you can’t put that in text. So what do you do? Show them by displaying an image (welcome mat).

Second: Draw them in:

Start by talking about something that means so much to them. Give them personal attention:

  • Something they desperately need help with.
  • Perhaps what they crave or desire most.
  • Something that evokes old memories… that they can relate to personally.

Define your topic: Basically and simply, state what you’re going to talk/write about, and how it will benefit them.

And if it’s a topic that will need some introduction, go on to describe how things come/came about. So there is an easy understanding between you right from the start.

Understanding stirs wisdom

Thirdly: Get people on your side:

Think what you have that’s in common and indulge in that fact or theory, so it will show you are on the same page.

Show you understand their craft or problem by using the jargon they are likely to use, according to the topic.

  • You gain trust and a good reputation when you supply good formatted content. A deep understanding of your topic and a focus on their needs.
  • On the other hand: If a blog is whipped up in about 30 minutes, it will be quickly recognized as a rushed job. Straight away peoples’ trust and your reputation is bust!

Fourth: No one likes boring stuff:

Consumers want more than content. They want human involvement. Where, the author’s character comes alive. Be someone, people want and like to talk to.

  • Don’t be too serious. Weave some humour into your jargon. A good laugh `cuts the ice’.
  • Make yourself human: Even put in the silly mistakes you made (according to the situation) and then add how you overcame the problem yourself.
  • Perhaps putting it across like a comedian does. Describe something by the way people do silly things, example: human behaviour and habits.
  • Show and arouse emotion with adjectives that stir peoples’ senses and imagination. And be enthusiastic about what you’re writing.

Fifth: Leave the best till last:

  • Leave with a bold statement that is very thought provoking.
  • Conclude with a starling fact.
  • Something that gets them to take action.
  • Something they willingly leave comments for.

Sixth & lastly….. Comments:

Enlarge on relationships by showing how much your visitors are important to you, that you would really appreciate their input.

Ask their opinions on the topic. What they thought or did that was similar, etc.

But don’t ask more than one question, if possible. Too many questions are confusing. They won’t know which question they should answer first. Or which one is most important.

"Don't ask more than one question."

Brilliant advice.

I can't even remember how many times I've sent emails to bosses, coworkers, friends and family with multiple questions, only to get an answer to one of them... I'm sure it's a psychological thing, that applies to most humans.

Yes concentration only goes so far. And a blog based on one topic with a few supporting facts gets remembered for much longer.
