I Quit Eating for 28 Days

To Lose Weight
For Better Health
To Attain an Elevated State of Consciousness
To be more like Jesus, for Jesus Fasted for 40 days

I Ran Out Of Money.

I took a Leap of Faith with Steemit, and it didn't turn out so well, so I started fasting.

Day 19 of 28

I seriously cannot believe that it is already day 19 of my fast! It really doesn't seem that long ago since I started, yet here I am. I have not been actively posting about the happenings of my fast for the sheer lack of really anything to talk about it.

It turns out, once you settle into the fast, it seems it is seriously mundane without really much for me to say, unless somebody were truly interested in knowing that virtually everything I feel today is pretty much what I felt yesterday, short of very mild noticeable differences.

It honestly feels extremely weird, how normal it feels after not eating for awhile. It truly is, something I barely think about, much less have anything much to report about. Hence, the lack of posts on the journey. However, over the next few days, there will be something to talk about.

Ending a Little Early

I have came to the decision to end my fast, and start eating again 4 days early, which means I will begin refeeding, starting tomorrow evening.

This would end the fast with a grand total of 24 days without solid food, and 18 days which non-solid foods.

The honest truth is, if I were in regular circumstances, I would have very little reason to stop, I would think, even at 28 days as fasting, at this stage, truly feels so normal that is rather astounding actually. I would have pushed the boundaries just because I would want to see how far I could push it, because I'm that sort of guy.

Nonetheless, I will be leaving Sweden not too long from now, and once I'm off, I will not have control over what I am going to eat for a little while as I will be with my partner's family, and will be having whatever they cook.

The Importance of Repopulating My Gut

How I end my fast is going to be just as integral as fasting itself. This is a rare, once in a lifetime opportunity, that my gut is completely reset, as it has never been before in my life. This is my opportunity to repopulate my gut microbiome with a whole new healthy bacteria colony that will bring me health and wellness for decades to come.

As such, it is very important to me that I have this time before I lose control over what I consume. I will be reporting on what exactly I will be having over the next 4 days, of which, I will still not be having any solid foods.

When it comes to food and nutrition, I really don't fuck around.

I have some interesting stuff prepared for my refeeding. So stick around for tomorrow's post!

Physical Activity During Fasting

I did not start seriously doing physical exercise until about, mid way through my fast, and I honestly wish I had started doing so earlier. One would logically imagine, that during a fast, exercise would be painful and excessive. However, I have found the opposite to be true.

Since I started exercising, I felt better overall, than when I did not for the rest of the day. I also consistent grew in strength at almost a significant daily improvement to strength and endurance of my workouts. Overall, I would even go as far as to say, exercise made the fast easier.

This is definitely a big part due to the increased levels of Human Growth Hormone being secreted during the fast and has a very noticeable effect. I did not lose any muscle during this fast, maybe even gained a little, however, not too noticeable to any signifanct extent.

I would definitly recommend physical activity during fasting and think it would actually be helpful to the fast itself by making you feel better.

Weight Loss

Of course, though I haven't talked much about it, I have lost a pretty significant amount of body fat during this 19 days, and will post before and after photos tomorrow!

Conclusion To The Extended Fast

Overall, I'd say, it is really very very surprising, just how normal fasting feels like past the initial transition phase. Even myself, being quite educated on the processes of fasting before doing so, could not have guessed that the experience would be as such.

The idea of my being on my deathbed clawing towards food after not eating for 19 days would seem more likely, yet, here I sit feeling, more or less how I would feel if I were eating regularly, with not much diffrientation.

Soverignty Of Self

Short of all the health benefits that I have been raving about fasting since day 1, another takeaway I have is how much more sovereignty of self I have attained through this experience.

Think about it. Given that, for some reason, the grid goes down, food starts running out and people start panicking after 1 day. Guess who isn't panicking?

Even my actual situation right now. Where I literally ran out of money to buy food, yet here I am 19 days since my last meal, casually typing away. How many people in the world would have lost their shit long ago.

quote-nothing-adds-such-dignity-to-character-as-the-recognition-of-one-s-self-sovereignty-elizabeth-cady-stanton-82-66-14.jpg

With this experience, I would confidently say, in a dire situation, my actual experience of fasting will give me a level of calmness where most people would be panicking, is definitely an edge and a tool in my arsenal.

Cleansing of Body and Mind

Since my 10+ years of smoking and 4 years of heavy drug abuse, I can only imagine the amount of damage fromt ar in my lungs and toxins stuck in my head I have. I have long felt blockages in my brain which disallowed me to think clearly and was holding me back. My cardiovascular endurance was generally terrible as well. In both aspects, I can definitely already feel a significant improvement upon.

My fasting journey isn't exactly over yet, rather, only phase 1 of 2 and I am interested to see how I feel after my proper refeeding, to have a true gauge of how fasting has benefitted me.

Overall An Amazing Journey

Somehow I have to say that I really did manage to make the most of a bad situation. Running out of money in a foreign country is really not something that most people could turn into a positive experience, yet somehow, I actually feel I managed to make the best of it.

Though, even at the end of this journey, the money still didn't really come through and I have to sadly, burden other, in asking for help, of which I will go home to immediately earn and repay, which really sucks and I really wish I could have avoided doing. However I really don't have much choice.

I still feel I did the best I can at minimizing my burden on other for my own mistakes will do everything I can to be better and bring support in place of burden. This is what I aspire to do as soon as possible, and I am making a plan to do just that after this journey.

That is all for today, tomorrow is a big day, after 20 days, I will have my first rush of calories, and I am excited to experience it.

Till tomorrow,

God Speed Brethren.

Wow, the 19 days went so fast (wasn't actually pun intended)! I'm really interested to see what kind of food you will start eating for the proper gut microbiome.

Oh God, yes it really did! Doesn't seem like it at all!

Well, I'm working on that post right now! So you'll find out real soon!

I appreciate you sticking with me through this entire journey!

I appreciate you sticking with me through this entire journey!

My pleasure! It was interesting and informative one!

This is already amazing. Congratulation!
So interesting to learn about your exercises experience.
One question, what about slim people who don't like losing weight but are interested in fasting?

Hey there @johano!

Thank you very much! It's been quite the journey this last 20 days!

One question, what about slim people who don't like losing weight but are interested in fasting?

You'd be surprised to learn that, of course, you'd lose fat during a fast, however it isn't the biggest factor how much fat you have as your body actually consumes a lot more than just fat during a fast! In the process of fasting your body begins the process of autogaphy, which basically means the eating of old and dead cells within your body which you really do not want there anyways.

When you do eat the old and dead cells for fuel, your body then goes ahead and repopulates with fresh cells which is overall a benficial effect!

I'd say, even if your body fat percentage isn't the highest, fasting is still very much viable!
