Self-destruction.

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

This article deals with three simple laws that somehow lead society to self-destruction. The main conclusion that can be drawn from them is that each of us is responsible for what is happening in our society, each of us has the right to change it and demand these changes. It's amazing how much garbage disposal in an inappropriate place can increase the total number of murders and robberies.

 1. The law of the pit How often do you meet homeless people on the street? How often do you meet people who ask for charity? Why do you think they did not become successful people, do not have a good education, they do not have a future? In fact, everything is simple. The oldest law of society says: "It's fast to fall, but it's difficult to rise." Indeed, a homeless person is a person whose life depends on how much he earns today, he does not have the opportunity to "rise" above this bar: he can not get education, because money is needed for this; he physically there can not be in torn clothes and with a corresponding smell; he will not be able to study morally, thinking about where he will earn his living tomorrow and how to pass the exams. Simple arithmetic, is not it? Take a person's house, family, friends - who needs it then and what should he do? By the way, do you often help homeless people? No, you do not owe them anything? However, when they do not receive charity, they will engage in theft and murder. Are they right, that's the question? And, meanwhile, are they right for us or for themselves? Do not forget: we left them.

 2. The tragedy of the communities Let's imagine one simple situation. Let's say we have some rural community with one pasture. Each member of this community can graze livestock as much as he likes. But, grazing reduces the amount of grass, and hence - the benefit of livestock. Everyone can increase their number of animals and, accordingly, their income, while the amount of grass will decrease slightly. But, if everyone does the same, then the pasture will become much worse. It is clear, if a member of the community decides, on the contrary, to reduce his livestock, then there will be more grass. Thus, it is advantageous for everyone to only increase their livestock, so that to occupy as much territory as possible while it is still in a normal state and not occupied by someone else.

3. The theory of broken windows.

This theory was first formulated by Wilson and Kelling. The essence of it is directly reflected in their example

If a glass is broken in a building and no one replaces it, then after a while, no whole window will remain in this building.

Knowingly it is attributed to criminology, it's just a terrible dream of a criminalist! ;) And now I'll explain why. The main idea that lies in this theory is that the disinterestedness of the society in disclosing minor offenses (drinking alcohol in a public place, throwing out garbage where it is not allowed, etc.) provokes others to commit the same offenses. In other words, the average mark of "permissible violation" for each person is constantly decreasing in view of the fact that he notices impunity in this, one way or another, leading to an increase in the number of such crimes or more serious ones.
