I think the German coach would rather go with a more defensive player like Julian Brandt but at the same time flexible, something that Sané isn't . On top of that Sané's recent stats on the national team were not as good as he is at Man city,He played 12 games and provided just one assist (zero goals).
Although he deserves a slot on the world cup squad,i do think the coach's decision to drop him is justifiable.
What do you call a defensive player when you already have groestka, kroos, khedira and Co. You know German are not a defensive team, same as Spain. It's not justified leaving sane out. Sane is like a starter for mancity. Mancity were in the last 8 of the UCL luckily they escaped Liverpool, they'd be in the finals who knows??
Who is Brandt and where are luverkusen for crying out loud. I think playing at the confederations cup played a big part here. Also playing at your home country. Sterling, iwobi are all part of the World Cup why shouldn't sane?? Even a country like Spain would have taken sane over aspas or atleast dropped someone for sane. This isn't fair on him Ataal but it's life anyway.
No.. That's not the reason Sane was dropped..
You see the coach had issues with Sane's attitude and it was affecting the whole team..
And he reckoned that taking Sane to the World Cup could and would obviously jeopardize the team's unity..
So he was dropped..
