Friends Who Give A Fork
WORBLI WEEKLY UPDATE v2: Tuesday, August 7 2018
All great communities start with great friendships. At WORBLI we want nothing less than to build the biggest blockchain community yet, a project that everyone — regardless of experience — can get involved with. But we will not get there alone.
This past week has been a reminder of that. As our project goes from strength to strength, we reflect on the value of our partners, our supporters and followers — yes, that includes you! With that in mind, here are some of the key updates from the past week:
Our launch is just round the corner, so we are spreading word of the first ever “friendly fork”. We have always been upfront about the fact that we are a “fork” of the EOS blockchain — but we have always hated the word. “Fork” often suggests a conflict in the community, a clash of ideas like Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash, or Ethereum and Ethereum Classic. This is absolutely not what WORBLI is about. Technically, we are a code fork— using the Eosio software to launch a chain better suited to our needs. But its more than that. We love EOS. We are supportive of the EOS community and in return we have enjoyed the community’s support. So, we are the “friendly fork”. Watch this space for more details on what this means and how our interests continue to align with the broader EOS project.
So what are we doing differently? Well, for a start, we are building our own pool of block producers. As with EOS, BPs will serve as the representatives of the Delegated Proof Of Stake (DPOS) consensus to produce new blocks on the network. But our chain will require more than the standard 21. Later this week, we will have agreements out with 21 WORBLI block producers with six more on standby. That is enough for WORBLI to launch but the long-term plan is to expand this further. Keep an eye out for WORBLI’s candidacy soon.e long-term plan is to expand this further. Keep an eye out for more info on this and details on WORBLI BP candidacy.
We have been strengthening our friendships in Asia Pacific. Our main man in Australia, Sam Russell, popped into the EOS Hackathon in Sydney last weekend to get the latest industry news and views. We got to catch up with the team from Block.one, while connecting with the guys from EOS Hong Kong, EOS Singapore, EOS Korea — who are all doing amazing work. The vibe throughout the whole event was buzzing. As with the US and Europe, there is a strong sense in Asia that we are at the start of something pretty damn awesome.
With the Sydney EOS Hackathon behind us, our eyes are now set on London. Some our team will be making a showing there too, so if you want to meet us and hear it from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, then get yourself registered. We can’t wait to meet you!
Our upcoming Airdrop is drawing closer. We will be dropping 1 Billion “WBI” Tokens to the EOS Community on September 14, 2018. Stay tuned to find out how you can take part, and share in our future.
That just about wraps up this week’s update. Thanks for reading, we look forward to you joining us on Telegram and connecting with our community.
