Been learning a lot lately and thinking about blockchain applications
So recently I've been reading up on HyperLedger, as well as completing an EDX course on the HyperLedger modules.
It's been interesting to hear about how applications have been improving supply chain systems across industry, about how permissioned and permissionless blockchains have been applied to the healthcare, financial, insurance industries too.
So I started thinking... Has anyone applied a model to retail stores or home improvement?
Say for example: Someone is renovating a house, and purchases a new kitchen. The new kitchen includes a stone benchtop, oven and 4 burner gas cooktop as well as cabinetry. Once a new kitchen has been selected and purchased, a smart contract is created. Included in the smart contract is as follows:
- Costs for each of the item
- Installation dates for each item i.e. plumber for gas stove, cabinetmaker for cabinets, stonemason for benchtop
- Payment method
The smart contract is provided to retailer, customer, and tradespeople. Once tradespeople have confirmed the costs and dates for the goods, the smart contract is confirmed; same goes with retailer, and customer.
This could be limited to the retailer and the customer, or it could be extended to retailer, customer, tradespeople, supplier, and even delivery people.
I could see the blockchain, once again, disrupting a HUGE industry (home improvement) with the blockchain. I for one am trying my best to be ahead of the game! Much like most people here as well on blockchain social media.
