Minds & Yours: Will They Be The First Steemit Competitors?

in #blockchain6 years ago

More and more Blockchain-powered social media sites are popping up.

SteemIt Alternatives?

These last couple of days, I’ve bumped into some other social
Media sites built on different Blockchains.

I haven’t had time to check them out properly, but I did notice they are profiling them to the the public in the same way SteemIt is: you can earn crypto by posting, upvoting and commenting.

At first glance, they work slightly different from Steemit, since they give you the opportunity to ‘sell’ content: you can set a part of your post to hidden. People can only see that hidden part of your content if they pay the price you set.

Still Discovering

I haven’t had a chance to do a decent research on both - I have only checked out the basic features.

I will spend the next couple of weeks trying to figure out how they work exactly.

Still, I wanted to introduce you to both...

@taskmaster4450 has created a SteemIt community on Minds. Joining this group, we can help each other to promote the SteemIt platform and maybe get to know each other a little better.

More Info Coming Soon

I’ve only just discovered both sites very recently, and I need to do some proper research, but I thought it might be fun to find out which of you Steemians have an account on one or both of those sites, so we can get in touch and explore them together.

Feel free to drop me a note here with your profile links. Together we can find out more than when we would be flying solo.

Thanks a lot for the support!

I have heard of a few others too but have never checked them out. I think bitcoinlive is one of the others that I have heard about and can actually remember the name. I don't have the energy to post on 2 seperate accounts lol. Steemit already takes up to much of my time! ;)

Same here. But I have consiered reposting old Steemit osts on those - saves time on the writing part ;0)

good call.. maybe i should consider that as well ;)

I've been meaning to ask you, why simplymike?

Long story, lol.
When I was still in internet marketing, I didn’t want to be caught by the IRS, so I changed my first name to Mike. That name is so common here in Belgium, it could be like a thousand people.
Then I started on Steemit with the username mike314-0005. I don’t know what I was thinking at the time, lol.
I reached rep score 51, but I was so tired of mistyping my own username I decided to open a new account. Choosing a new username was not easy, so in the end i just went for simplymike. It was way easier to remember, and less chance that people would mistype it - two factors of which I believe are important if you want to get somewhere on a social media platform.

Maybe I should have chosen a girl’s name, but I think it’s pretty funny that everyone is taking me for a guy (who can blame them?)
I don’t really care about sexes, so it doesn’t bother me.

Huh, crazy story! I did not expect that at all lol.. thanks for sharing it with me.. :)

I'm putting all my social media cookies in one basket .... the Steemit basket :)

Have you ever checked out SteemThat? Built and operated in beta and recently launched it's own token "STISH."

I did, actually. I’m still a member, but couldn’t be very active lately due to circumstances

I like the platform and the outlook the creator has for the site, I just haven't had much time to hang out there. Way too many new social media sites to be checkin' out!

I agree. At the moment, I’ve got my hands full with SteemIt alone :0)
But I agree SteemThat is awesome. I really should get back there....

Can you give an executive summary of Steemthat? What is it? how does it work? and what does one earn on average? Etc.

I had heard of minds, and took a look a while back but wasnt that impressed, but maybe it has changed i Will check them both out

I'm already on a lot of these. I was going to make posts about these but I've not been brave enough yet hahaha

Are you also actively using them?

No I'm not. I should be. ♥️

Please start behaving as of now!

Can we see one review per week?
😀

rolls eyes Perhaps perhaps

So far I think I will pass, but will keep my eye on your recommends. New sites will be coming along a lot, but I absolutely hate getting only a piece of a story, and then to have to pay for a hidden part that may be pure trash, with no recourse to recoup lost whatever, I think I will wait and see what else comes along.

I completely agree on the part about having to pay to see the last part.
It does have some possibilities if you are selling digital products, for example.
The free part could be used as a sales pitch, the paid part could play the role of the download page...

Yes, but I would need some safeguards to ensure that I was getting what I expected. look at all the scam, and bull on steemit, facebook, and other places, people will promise the moon, some people will bite, then they will whine they got ripped off. Like the bellyrub bank always comes to mind, people believed that they would get 40% return on their deposits, and that they would not be ripped off. If they are still around in six months or a year, i may re-look at them.

Can’t argue with that :0)

I'm really surprised how you guys find lots of time to explore these many websites and post contents. I struggle to post and be consistent just in steemit itself. Nice work @simplymike.

I’m not, @bala41288
I’ve only just discovered the sites and added 1 post so far. Maybe I will repost some of my SteemIt articles on those sites.
For the moment, I’m trying to pick up the pace here on SteemIt again :0)

You're right, where does all the time come from?
At least I have the idea that many of the active Steemonians spend at least a few hours per day on Steemit. I'm afraid I'm also one of them, but I really try to be here less often since I have kids a wife, hobby's, etc

Didn't know there are more platforms popping up based on the blockchain. It would be hard to manage another account on a different platform especially if you have invested so much time here already.

There will probably be many more soon.
I agree it would be hard to manage multiple accounts - I hardly have time to handle my SteemIt account. But maybe I can repost some of my older articles and earn a little something

Well that sounds like a plan. Keep us posted 😊

I signed up on Minds a few weeks ago and already have 30 Minds Tokens

Gave you a follow.
Still have no clue jow the site exactly works, but I’ll figure it out one day ;0)

Me too... I have no idea what 1 Minds Token is worth. I am collecting them hoping they are worth 1 Ethereum some day

I think that is a different coin

What's the USD value for 30 Minds tokens?

Not sure ...
Trying to figure that out. Hopefully 1Ethereum .... $600 USD

Yeah right 😂

I think Mike might have a more realistic answer. For now I stick with Steemit. Although I don't earn any dime here, it's surely more than 2 cents 😀

Wow..... not much then.

I think the Mindcoin is different from the Minds Token

You are right. Sorry, I was too quick with my answer.
There’s no value assigned to them yet
