It doesn't seem like that long ago I had two young boys running around, but both of them are in their mid-to-late 20s, married, one with a child and the other expecting. The one with the granddaughter lives with us so we've been watching her grow up and do things. Been working on scooting around furniture and taking a few unaided steps.

As much as I can say, in spite of it all, that I enjoyed fatherhood, being a Grandpa so far has most of the benefits without most of the downside. :)

Sad thing is, it all happens before you know it. Not sure if a stay-at-home parent experiences their children growing up in the same way as work-away parents, but it sure seemed to fly by for me. And it's not gotten any slower since.

I was fortunate, though, when they were in middle school on up to work for myself and be able to arrange my schedule around practices and games, so I can't say I missed out a whole lot. But I worked for someone else for the 10 or so years prior to that time, so missed a lot of the day-to-day things I would have witnessed more of if I had been at home.

Congratulations on grandfatherhood. It's a blessing and I'm eager for it when that time comes.
