Even Native Americans Want in on the Liberating Power of the Blockchain
Blockchain empowers U.S. indigenous tribes
One of the most compelling use cases for blockchain technology is its ability to provide economic opportunities to those who have been shunned from society. Sovereign Native American nations are among those who have been excluded from participating in the U.S. economy. Over the years, the U.S. government has used cold & calculated tactics to force these indigenous people from their land. This has resulted in a lack of exports that would otherwise produce a healthy, self-sustaining economy. Casinos provide much of the income for these nations, however, result in reliance upon the U.S. dollar and does not generate prosperity from within. This is where the blockchain comes in.
NEM & He3Labs leading the charge
He3Labs, a group of blockchain experts, have been working with Universal Tribal Partners (UTP) for over a year to develop blockchain solutions for economic and governance issues faced by these indigenous people. UTP is an organization of Native American FinTech leaders aiming to bring blockchain technology to these sovereign nations. On August 18, 2018 at the 100th annual Crow Fair in Montana, He3Labs gave a demonstration to the Crow Tribe on how blockchain could provide new economic opportunities previously unavailable to them. Built on the NEM blockchain platform, new systems of governance such as voting, digital identities, the securing of land registry documents and digital currencies will now be possible thanks to He3Labs expertise in addition to the speed and efficiency of the NEM blockchain. These new economic models will create wealth from within and self-dependence rather than reliance upon the foreign U.S. dollar.
The blockchain revolution
The advent of blockchain technology provides a trustless means of governance and economic development. It allows for the creation of wealth backed by computer resources as opposed to natural resources like gold or oil. This allows disenfranchised groups to create their own self-sustaining economies rather than relying upon a greedy, selfish government that has failed them time and time again. It is amazing to see just how far blockchain technology has the ability to reach and benefit those who have been forgotten by society.
Be careful though, because if technology solves all our problems it can also enslave us.
oh there is no doubt in mind that it will. In fact it already is. It's an unstoppable force and until we evolve to a point where our consciousness surpasses technologies ability to evolve, then we will always be a slave to it.
