Samsung wants to implement Blockchain technology to track Global shipments

  The Asian electronics giant is thinking about creating a platform based on the chain of blocks that will allow it to manage its supply chains globally, according to the report offered. 

  Through Bloomberg reported Monday that Samsung Electronics, is building an accounting system that allows to track international shipments, waiting for this measure can reduce shipping costs by 20%.     

  The report indicated that Samsung SDS, its logistic and IT subsidiaries of the group, are currently developing the platform.  

According to the report, SDS could ship around 500,000 tons in air cargo and approximately 1 million containers in shipments by 2018. These goods are worth billions of dollars.

With this the company expects that the change to this new system based on the Blockchain technology will allow to reduce general expenses, such as the costly documentation of shipments, and also allow it to respond at a better pace according to market demands.

In this way Samsung would not be the only important company that seeks to implement Blockchain technology in this type of industry. There are also great companies like; INM, NTT Data and Air France that have been adopting these systems to increase efficiency and greater transparency in their networks in recent years.

Last month, the Chinese petrochemical giant Sinochem successfully used this technology to track a shipment of gasoline sent to Singapore.
