A bright future for content creators is up to us
Blockchain technology is the way of the future, there is no doubt about it. It's up to us to make it succeed.
I've been making YouTube videos for a long time. As many other content creators, I have become very dissatisfied with that platform. It's a private company (Google, of any companies) so it's in their full rights to censor videos, deny monetization, restrict users in any way they wish. Content creators have been praying for an alternative to come along. Twitch has been making progress towards becoming a YouTube competitor, vid.me and a few others have been gaining popularity. However, in the end, they are still private companies.
The key to a truly open platform is decentralization. Dtube and Flixxo are just a couple of examples of steps being taken in the right direction. To have a competitive alternative to the big names in video publishing, content creators must have a clear ownership of the videos, ability to post videos without censorship, and to receive monetary gain from their creations based on fair voting that will naturally filter our the garbage, with genuinely good videos surfacing to the top. Of course, any such system will be targeted by clickbaiters and bots, and that is up to the developers to solve, together with the community.
The hardest thing on this journey is to get people to understand that decentralization is the only way to go. It will take time, and it's up to us to do all it takes to aid in this transition, by spreading the word, and creating content of course. Don't expect the likes of jacksepticeye to switch to Flixxo or Dtube any time soon though, they are tied down by the YouTube/Google ecosystem. For every smaller content creator this may be a blessing in disguise though, an easier path to "success".
If you are a content creator, I suggest starting to make a transition to alternative platforms. If you are a viewer, I suggest participating on these platforms. Any platform will require both creators and viewers to succeed, so it's up to us to make a change in this area.
Totally agree ! nice post thanks.
