I think this element of seeing how the piece of art unfolds from birth to maturity is an excellent way of increasing the value of a work of art. The more thoughts and feelings an artist can reveal in the process, the more personal the experience will be and this can drive value even more.
I see two things that could complement this idea:
- a community art curation process that replaces the incumbent curators with a wisdom of the crowds' mechanism which attempts to designate value
- some sort of oracle that can track and prove ownership
