Hey all, how's it going this morning (or evening--or afternoon--depending on where you are)?

I thought I would give a little update on the exciting ALIS project coming out of Japan and soon to be going worldwide. I have written two articles previously about the Steemit inspired, Japanese News/Social Media Site, but with the closed beta launch coming up in April, and some promotional events taking place worldwide, it seems fitting to post another update here today.

What is ALIS?

ALIS is a blockchain-based platform and token, by which trustworthy articles are curated and separated from less trustworthy, lower-quality information sources. The team at ALIS has stated that their goal is to "visualize trust" via a blockchain-based system of article and news media sharing.

Like Steemit, users will have reputation scores (the ALIS algorithms are a bit different than Steemit's, however) and these scores will determine the amount of influence a user has on the platform for creating and curating quality articles.

One improvement on the Steemit model that the guys at ALIS are attempting to make is to limit the ability of those with large amounts of tokens to suddenly corrupt the platform via their stash of coins.

If this is the case, one potential concern is that if someone purchases a large quantity of ALIS tokens they will be able to suddenly change the value of platform as they wish. Regarding this concern, as already mentioned, it takes time for ALIS tokens to become effective on the platform. In other words, we will prevent users with a large amount of tokens from any wrongdoing. We will maintain the incentive to hold the tokens on the platform, killing two birds with one stone.

The Community is Growing Here in Japan, and Worldwide.

The philosophy behind the ALIS platform is unique in that the founders place extreme emphasis on the increasing irrelevance of old "customer hunting" business models, where the whole goal is to keep customers happy to turn a profit, and/or to keep token values high, regardless of the quality of the product itself. In the view of the ALIS team, the project is a sort of co-creation, with everyone interested pioneering new methods to improve the platform and its development through their own unique talents, skill sets, abilities, and perspectives.

As evidenced by the fan art directly above, and the already very active ALIS Ambassador Program, this approach seems to be working. Add to this the rare transparency of near-constant team member/founder accessibility via the official, multilingual Discord Chat, and you have a pretty good formula for community trust and engagement.

CLOSED BETA RELEASE IN JAPAN!

The closed beta version of ALIS will be released here in Japan at the end of April. To apply to join, a Japanese, SMS-capable phone number is required. Not to fear, however, for those interested in the platform in the rest of the world, platform is to be released worldwide within the next 2 - 3 years. You can check out the ALIS Public Roadmap for more details.

For those not in Japan who wish to join/support the project now, before the worldwide release, please check out the unique Ambassador Program, and also get acquainted with the ALIS Token itself.

Summary and personal thoughts.

While I am enthusiastic about the platform's goal of cutting through the endless and exponentially growing sea of "junk information" online, I am personally more excited about ALIS from a libertarian/voluntaryist/anarchist perspective, regarding the potential I feel this platform has to provide a real, legitimate blockchain-based counterpoint to the corrupt mass media here in Japan and elsewhere, around the world!

Whatever your angle, the project is an interesting one, and definitely worth keeping an eye on!

Sort:

Intersting idea.
What I am currently locking forward to is a system where there is private information, instead of steem where everything is public. So you could group your friends in different groups and when you post you select who should have access. The data would then be encrypted with essentially a multisig. This is the basic functionality that facebook adds over steem and once we have it we are ready for the masses.

@kafkanarchy84 This has potential, I'll keep an eye on it. Have you registered already? Are you able to blog there? If so, how's the experience so far?

Yo bro. Just registered. The release isn't until late April, so can't start blogging yet. Will keep ya posted!

Yeah man, I might have to procure a Japanese phone number for this 😝

It's like the steem blockchain. Will it be accessible to all ?
Looking forward to the closed beta.

Eventually the plan is for a global release, yes. The closed beta version is only open to users with an SMS-capable, Japanese phone number, however.

Thanks for commenting!

Very Nice! The transformation and revolution moves forward !

First of all thanks for the information, the upcoming days will be more trustworthy with ALIS

I recently canceled my cell phone. Softbank is too expensive, has shit customer service, and I don't really need a phone anyway. Hmmm. How often do they send SMSes? If they only want it for registration, I will use my wife's number.
