A key indicator of American consumer confidence rises in January

A key index published Tuesday showed that consumer morale in the United States rose in January January, apparently backed by wide cuts in corporate and individual taxes.

The initial reading of the Konfrans-Ford index to consumer confidence rose to 125.1 of 123.1 in the revised reading for December December and surpassing the average local expectations of also 123.1.

The US Consumer Outlook sub-index jumped to 105.5 in January January of 100.8 the previous month.
