Hi all, I'm new to Steem and would like to introduce myself by sharing a condensed version of the Carmiq whitepaper. Full whitepaper can be found at https://carmiq.org

CARMIQ

transporting humanity into the future

Carmiq is an open-source software platform that offers a first-principles based re-architecture of mobility ecosystem interactions revolving around two-way vehicle connectivity. It is designed to rationalize the use of electric vehicles in support of its mission to enable the human transportation experience to become increasingly beneficial to people and the planet..

The Carmiq Network is designed to digitally connect the range of ecosystem stakeholders required for personal mobility (driving around in cars). Carmiq is designed to align incentives of ecosystem participants to deliver the best human experience for those traveling in vehicles, in an increasingly efficient manner.

The central challenge of digital mobility is balancing the benefits of transparency (economic efficiencies, mechanical safety, regulatory compliance) with the requirements for personal privacy of that travelers expect and deserve. Carmiq prioritizes privacy over transparency, mandating privacy by default. Maintaining this balance between transparency and privacy in the context of both commercial and sovereign interests is a core challenge on the crypto-superhighway of the future.

The Carmiq Ecosystem encompasses a range of stakeholders that need to operate collaboratively to deliver mobility services. These include:
vehicle owners who may choose to rent their vehicles to renters
vehicle financiers who provide capital to owners for vehicle purchases
insurers who assume liability risk
service providers who are compensated for goods or activities such as battery charging, parking, cleaning or tire replacement
drivers who for the next few years are legally required to move vehicles

Carmiq governance is designed to be refined over time in a manner aligned with a set of core governance principles:
Optimize around traveler experience
Enable continuous and ongoing optimization and innovation
Resist privacy infringements
Reduce rent seeking
Use economic and mechanistic design to support the mission
Do not design software to prevent forking

Carmiq has a unique “transitional blockchain” go-to-market strategy when compared with other blockchain projects in that it will be initially deployed on a high-speed blockchain simulator. This strategy is designed to enable rapid value creation in a competitive market and a focus on consumer experience.

To expedite consumer value, Carmiq will develop and deploy protocols in a centralized manner to support rapid development cycles and feature deployment. These centralized protocols will simulate blockchain behaviors without the overhead that today’s DAP developers face. This is done in Carmiq’s high-speed blockchain simulator (also known as “AWS RDS PostgreSQL”), which enables rapid protocol development at a conceptual level and rapid scalable real-world deployment.

The Carmiq “fleetshare” model does not exist today in the market. The fundamental core concept is cooperative car sharing and management. Unlike marketplaces like Turo, which require owners to set their own pricing and usage policies, the Carmiq marketplace offers “network pricing” based on an open/transparent and evolving depreciation cost model for vehicles. Granular usage-based depreciation cost models are newly enabled on connected cars through the correlation of data feed history with market sales events.

The Carmiq marketplace key function is to match those seeking to procure vehicles for long or short term, with those who are willing to offer them for rent.

Carmiq offers two modes of vehicle rental based on geography. Globally, peer rentals will be facilitated. These will require the owner to perform certain activities such as insuring the vehicle, cleaning the vehicle, or verifying the activities of others.

Managed rentals will be available in an increasing number of locations (starting in Southern California area and the SF Bay Area) to provide a completely hands-off experience for owners with regards to all rental activities.

The Carmiq Token represents access to use of vehicles on the network based on the calculated depreciation cost of the vehicle. The token is also used as an internal currency to enable low friction and easy to provision payments across the ecosystem on a global basis. The core tokenomic mechanism of Carmiq aggregates the rental surplus and distributes it across a set of pools in a manner designed to promote behaviors that will enhance the growth, quality and value of the network.

CARMIQ has been developed by the team at TESLOOP, a Los Angeles based company providing mobility services in electric, semi-autonomous, programmatically connected Tesla vehicles since 2015. Tesloop’s existing service has over 15,000 customers in California, and has achieved both the highest per car-revenue, highest utilization and the highest customer satisfaction ratings of any passenger automobile transportation company in the world. TESLOOP has a fleet-API agreement with Tesla, and is possibly the most active developer on top of Tesla’s real-time Vehicle Interfaces.
